DJG, you're really bad at naming threads. I always come in to them expecting something completely different than what they are.
Anyway
When I was 4 my loftiest aspiration was to be a gas station attendant.
When I was 5 I wanted to be a car mechanic.
When I was 6 I wanted to be a roller coaster engineer, theme park designer, or Walt Disney imagineer. I also wanted to design board games.
When I was 7 or 8 I wanted to be an author, artist, or rock musician.
When I was 9 or 10 I wanted to design video games.
When I was 11 I wanted to be CEO of my own video game company, design software and hardware, and be fabulously wealthy.
When I was 12 or 13 I wanted to be a comic book writer and artist.
In high school I thought about being a film critic, newspaper editorialist, magazine editor, video game critic, game tester, photographer, computer programmer, screenwriter, professional driver, graphic designer, teacher, animator, or R&D staff for Wizards of the Coast. I also still had the comic book and video game designer thing in mind as less realistic alternates.
After high school I thought about retail management since this took far less motivation than any of the above.
When I went back to school I mostly wanted to be a freelance writer/photographer or travel journalist.
While in college I decided to finally try teaching, and did that for a while. I then also decided I could travel by teaching English in stead of doing the journalism thing, and again this would require less motivation. I ended up doing this eventually, also.
I've also always thought about working in porn.
My current aspiration is to make a serious try to get into screen writing again. Or porn. Depending on my mood, it might be something different next month. I get bored easily.
