You might be aware of this already, but just a heads up in case you hadn't heard.

How one of the most popular Evangelical ‘miracle’ stories was exposed as a fraud

Wow, that's reaching back a ways.

I didn't even finish the Strobel book. Certainly I don't pay attention to him for the sorts of peripheral, credibility related factors addressed by that article. I distrust Evangelicals by default. Sometimes his arguments are strong ones (for example, in The Case for Easter, he provides a good argument for the incredibility of all of the Apostles opting in to a conspiracy that resulted in gruesome deaths for all but one of them).

Total Recall, though, is a pretty good read. I recommend it for those who enjoy humorous scifi.

Just finished reading Fascism by Madeline Albright. Good book about the rise of fascism, bigotry etc... happening now. She give a history of how fascism creeps in starting her example with the way Mussolini came to power. Opened my eyes. Highly recommend this book. 378 pages, holds your interest though she rambles in parts.

Now I'm mostly focusing on Hellstrom's Hive by Frank Herbert.

Btw, this was a very good book. The way that Herbert managed to create a society that is simultaneously strong, effective, and has solid social values, and yet in other ways is so cold and inhuman drew me in and kept me questioning my own reactions to it.

1) Thomas Frank is always brilliant. 2) Since I live in the city where Röhm grew to prominence, I'm very interested to hear the story Wackerfuss has to tell. 3) I'm listening to Bharara's work as an audiobook, since I enjoy his podcast. Wonder if he'll explain why the SDNY didn't prosecute bankers after the 2008 crisis?

Please don't think I'm weird, or weirder than you already think I am.

I am completely absorbed in Complete Wilderness Training Manual I picked up at B&N recently. It's an illustrated survival guide and very comprehensive!

Y'all know I'm kind of the outdoors type, but my husband teased me about getting it. I told him that I would give him three days in the wild. I think I could make it three weeks pretty easily, and then have to work at it after that.

I may not always agree with someone but I do like to see what makes them tick, and why they think they do. If I set out just to explore and not criticize , I can enjoy the book. I get a better understanding of them as a person.
I am starting Shaken by Tim Tebow.

We had everything except money.

It's a complication of recollections and photographs from survivors of the last Great Depression.

Timely in light of what is racing toward us globally and most are oblivious to.

Crap is going to get ugly.

CHINESE CHARACTERS FOR BEGINNERS.

The evolution of Chinese characters is explained,
some examples of combinations of a character with
another character, the number of strokes needed to
write that character, and the precise order in which
the strokes are written.
