I'm a huge car fanatic and was wondering what kind of car you drive.

Here's mine: http://www.cardomain.com/id/dinan325ic

It's a 1994 BMW 325i convertible with a 1995 3.0L BMW M3 engine with Active Autowerkes' Stage 1 Generation 3 turbo kit running 7psi of boost.

Currently my project is to lower the compression of the engine, so that I can run more boost.

My goal is to reach 400rwhp and right now i'm at 300.

Cool car...I see that you are from Los Altos Hills. I grew up in Los Altos. Small world.

For the record, HSB, there is no such thing as an ancient Toyota. :)

I've got a 99 V6 Lexus RX300 and a 95 4 cyl Toyota 4x4 Pickup truck

I don't drive but of course I'm being forced to since I can't cycle or walk everywhere. My gf wants me to learn to drive then I can come see her more and get her alone lol since her house is out of bounds, she has two brothers there etc and her parents wont let me in her room :D

Anyway once I get the money, I'll get a car...probably a cheap one.

spoolworm: I crashed my old skoda(total loss), and the engine of my mazda blew up( I drive too fast).

Now I've got a great little skoda(basicly same as VW golf), with the good petrol engine. The RS version. Vrrrm Vrrmm. 0-60 under 10 secs. I've already gone 230 on the speedo....fantastic. The good thing is, it doesn't look like it's nippy. It looks cheap and understated, but it drives super. I always pass the BMWs in the bend.

I payed loads extra for the aircon, better seats, anti car jack, fab stereo and stuff. Big tires. But nothing you can see when you look at the thing. It looks like a bargain basement car. Cars like the fast and the furious frighten away the women at uni.

I love to drive though, I've done loadsa anti-slip and race lessons. Know just how to take that corner nicely.

I have a 1999 or 2000...not sure really Audi A4. It is my baby. I got her brand new..well I paid for half and my parents paid for the other.

I've actually seen the Audi TT which I want to get if my funds allow me. :)

wow, someone that doesn't own an American car!! hahahahaha

tallonem - how do you like the new GTO? I remember all of the hype about it. Is it all that? My friend told me that Chevrolet is planning on puting an even larger engine or a more powerful one in there.
[post=277777]Quoted post[/post]

I don't drive American, either...I've got a Volvo S40.
[post=277798]Quoted post[/post]

Oh, I totally love the "new" S40. I thought about getting one, but I've gotten so used to having a hatchback or open gate of some sort that I don't think I'd like going back to having a trunk.

Anyway, I currently have a 2004 Toyota Highlander. I love it, although now that I'm living in San Francisco again, it feels a little too big for the crowded streets here. :ninja:

I've noticed lots of BMWs here, not just in this topic but also mentioned elsewhere on the board. Could it be that well-endowed guys are drawn to BMWs for some particular reason? Or is it that well-endowed guys who enjoy showing off enjoy getting attention in general, and therefore would be more likely to own a BMW than, say, an Oldsmobile? Hmm...

BonaDrag_Elizabeth: It seems you people either have a posh new car or a plethora of old cars. I am real curious on how everyone affords such things. :)

I feel as if I should hurry and get my Audi TT to keep up. I also feel as if I should send a family diplomat to Los Altos Hills as well...

I'm wondering if there's something in the water in Los Altos that makes our dicks grow large, or if having a family connection there does the same thing. Bizarre.

Maybe they're the only cars specifically designed to accomodate our big ol' Alpenhorns.

Hey Bona Drag Elizabeth . . . no need to "feel the need" to keep up with the "Jones'" so to speak. I have collected my cars over the course of 20 years !! Believe me, it was not without some "harder" times of going without somethings.

The old cars are what I was drawn to, and in that effort, spent my time and money getting the ones I have, fixed up . . .generally doing all the work myself. Except for the bodywork (coach work in UK ???) . . .

I don't judge anyone by the vehicle they drive/own . . . I am sure there are folks out there where that means more than personality, and who that person is - which I feel is too bad, because there is so much more to someone than a vehicle, or money or the size of his penis . . . . .

Just my two (Canadian) cents worth . . . . . . . .

Cheers !

Oh yeah, also forgot to mention . . . in North America - well certainly Canada & the USA, it is VERY VERY easy to own a vehicle. Also vey cheap compared to the UK !! So you will find people with many of them, or at least one very nice one !!!

One of the reasons has to be the wide open expanses that there are here. I can travel for 10 hours in the car, heading to the west coast of Canada !!! A glorious drive thru the Canadian Rocky Mountains !

The public transit systems over here suck !!! Nothing like the Tube in London !!! Or even the trains running thru-out Europe ! If the "government's" over here want us to be more environmentally friendly, then build the infrastructure of the public transit systems to work better and get us out of our cars (pulling me kicking and screaming from mine . . . LOL) . . . . actually I found the Tube in London great ! No parking issues, can relax on the ride (just get off on the right station stop !!!) . . . . .

Cheers

How's this for coincidental:

At one time, I lived in Los Altos Hills

and

I learned to drive in a Chrysler 300 - I forget which letter followed the 300 - but that car could easily dust the old Porsche 356s and 911s and hold its own with most "sportscars" of its time. Later, when I lived in Los Atos Hills, I bought the first car I owned, a Porsche 911SC and loved it (this was in 1982, when I was 27), but, as I grew older and became a family man, this was succeeded by generation after generation of Volvos, SAABs and the inevitable Chrysler minivans. I cannot verify this with actual facts and figures, but I really believe that SAAB 9000S Turbo I had in the late 1980s was every bit as fast as that Porsche 911SC.

Now, as 50 approaches in a five weeks, I just don't seem to care how the car looks or how fast it goes, as long as I get from point a to point b. Now, that there will be children in my life again, I suppose the seats go back in my current minivan.

I moved away from Los Altos in 1991 when I graduated from college and moved to the opposite coast and became a Southerner. I have made trips back home, but my mother comes here to visit me. I guess I need to make a trip back out to the Bay Area now.

We should have a Bay Area LPSG "meet and greet" since there seems to be such a Los Altos/Los Altos Hills bond. There has to be a few other people from the Peninsula around on the board.

The reason that the transit systems here "suck" compared to Europe is because American cities are much newer than European cities, and therefore, were built to accomodate large numbers of cars. It wouldn't make sense to have a system like The

In the relatively crowded San Francisco Bay Area, the regional transit system (BART) is underused even during rush hour. I'd love to see more rail systems built, but figuring out how to pay for them is difficult when it's pretty easy for most people to own a car.
