Well, I normally walk or take the subway. I'll also take a cab from time to time. As my name would suggest I do own a 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4x4. I have no problem driving in the city and I actually rather enjoy it. Guess I am just use to it.

It seems you people either have a posh new car or a plethora of old cars. I am real curious on how everyone affords such things.

I feel as if I should hurry and get my Audi TT to keep up. I also feel as if I should send a family diplomat to Los Altos Hills as well...

My company recently landed a decent funding deal and being one of the early folk, found myself with a little cash so I decided to get a car I've been coveting for a while...

I don't trust cars. I find walking is much healthier and less life theatening way to get around.

If I were to own a car though, I'd love to have either a mini cooper, VW Beetle or VW Autobus. All restored to their original 1960-1970 glory days.

Yikes. Without the seat belts, air bags, or other safety features?

Ya know in any bunch of car nuts there has to be a "greenie" - guess for this bunch so far that's me! I have both a 2002 and a 2004 Toyota Prius Hybrid. For a very long time I was a sports car and pickup man but woke up in 2001 to the personal impact I was making on the environment. Have been trying to reduce my footprint ever since.

You're like my parents. They are environmentalists.

My mom drives a 2003 Toyota Rav4 EV and my stepdad drives a 2001 Solectria Force. Both of these cars use pure electricity. The Rav4 gets 120 miles per charge while the Force only gets 60 or so. We have a cool charging station in our garage that we plug into the vehicles at night (electricity is cheaper at night).

We get our electricity from windmills and stuff like that. It's crazy.

Anyway, i'm the only one in the household who abuses the environment. I should be ashamed of myself, but i'm not. I'll learn...eventually.

Same here. We just got one a few month ago since we have a new addition to the family. Love it! All I need is the "Soccer Mom" bumper sticker....although with our family, it's more like "Golf Mom". Our other is a 2000 Saturn SL (or something like that).

I have recently shifted to the country in the northwest of Australia (been here 11 mths) I have a company car which is a 2002 dual cab Toyota Hilux which suits it's purpose. I sold my cars in the city and just bought a cheap 1994 Mazda 626 to leave in the city for when I fly there which has been for a w/e every fortnight. Lst year I drove a BMW 5 series which was the current model at the time, they released a new model just after I sold it. Yes MisterMark ANOTHER BMW..hehehe. I also had a 1968 Datsun 510 which I did up and was faster than a lot of V8s, I could spin the wheels by dropping a gear and accelerating while driving at 100km/hr.

oh isn't "BonaDrag_Elizabeth" right! "It seems you people either have a posh new car or a plethora of old cars. I am real curious on how everyone affords such things."

A few years ago when I lived on 40 achres of land just outside the capital city edge I had 30 cars, all old ones, but was fun coz it did not matter if I was playing around with the motors and desroyed them or if I wanted to take them out back and do laps of the property. If they broke down I would just walk over to another car and keep going hehehehe.

hahahaha hey pecker, maybe I got them all as duds then, that is how I could afford so many hahahaha

I am thinking of moving to europe in a few years and they have the steering wheels on the other side to us like US, I am worried about how I will get used to that, but worse is that I hope that I stay on the right side of the road....

[/b][/quote] Wish my commute gave me the option of driving an electric, still too short of a range for my needs. :(

I've got a ways to go before I'll call my self a true environmentalist. Texas isn't exactly the hub of environmental technology either! Though I'm sure if we were to put up some windmills around the capital rotunda it would likely generate much more electricty than it uses... :D

I've got a 1998 Mazda 626, a 1993 Dodge Shadow, a 1988 Dodge Daytona, a 1975 Ford F-150 pick-up, a 1987 Chevy Camaro with a blown 350, turbo 400 with a 3000 stall and a 456 posi rear end, it takes 10 gallons of fuel to run the quarter mile three times.

Sorry for the delay Mark. I really like the GTO since it's made in Austraila, it's not really an american made car. It is actually a converted Holden Monaro. It rides really well and handles great, very balanced. I do have the 350 hp version 6 speed. It runs like a scalded ape, I can only imagine what the 400 hp engine does! If you get a chance to test drive one I think you'd be impressed. The only drawback is that it is really hard to get in and out of the back seat.

You got it tallonem.. http://www.auto-report.net/index.html?monaro.html

It went to US after they realised how good the car was in Australia and saw a potential for it to take off there too. The car was made to revive the old Monaros of the 60's and 70's.

I'm a huge car fanatic and was wondering what kind of car you drive.

Here's mine: http://www.cardomain.com/id/dinan325ic

It's a 1994 BMW 325i convertible with a 1995 3.0L BMW M3 engine with Active Autowerkes' Stage 1 Generation 3 turbo kit running 7psi of boost.

Currently my project is to lower the compression of the engine, so that I can run more boost.

My goal is to reach 400rwhp and right now i'm at 300.

I think some people care way too much about their cars, but, whatever, to each his own. Some people care way too much about the size of their penis, for that matter...

I drive a silver 1999 Dodge Viper RT/10. Nobody bought it for me. Bone stock it has better numbers than your goal numbers, and it's not even completely stock. Fast enough to get me in trouble on a regular basis.
