Um, 'gleeful' is an emotion that is fleeting at best and generally confined to childhood.

She was suspended for one week for telling a member with whom she has a private disagreement, in a private message, to go screw himself, and that 'man' felt so 'harassed' that he felt it necessary to report such heinous, abusive language to the mods, despite his own well-known rep for similar behavior. What a guy.

Not to worry. She'll be back before you know it, probably looking rested and refreshed.

So who was it?

May as well tell us all who the tattle-tale is so we can go ahead and put him on our ignore lists now.

When members are banned:
1. Do they get any warnings before they're banned?
Sometimes, it seems to depend on the infraction

2. Are they told why they're being banned?
In the past, no they have not been told. I am not sure about now.

3. Do they have a chance to appeal the decision?
No

No. She was burned at the stake by the English for heresies committed against the Catholic church though in reality it was because she was a woman leading armed forces against the English army.

Joan d'Arc is the answer to one of my favorite trivia questions --

"Which Catholic Saint was a celebrated cross-dresser?"

It's great question because people immediately think of a man wearing women's clothes and no one ever guesses correctly. But her wearing men's clothes was a big issue in her time (as well as hearing voices.....). A fascinating life you should read about (even if just an encyclopedia article) if you haven't ever done so.

Sorry for the detour. Back to the regularly scheduled programming.

I hope you'll excuse me, but I'd rather not tell tales out of school.

And of course she doesn't have access to her account now and so can't send me the pm; I'm unable to verify positively.

So, it sounds like the LPSG is sort of run like a rogue Home Owners Association.

Do moderators ban whoever they want at any time, or do they at least have to get a second opinion before they ban a member?

Consensus is needed, from what I understand - except in the case of obviously underage posters, members posting illegal content and other open and shut type stuff.

for this ban consensus amongst the mods / admins would have been needed.

I think a video of her being spanked by Mr. Ed would have been appropriate admonishment. Maybe a little nipple torture thrown in for good measure. A little light pussy spanking just so she knows what a very naughty girl she has been.

It was XCUSE, whoever that is.

I don't know why you felt compelled to beat around the bush.

We're adults here, aren't we?

I was speaking based on observation. I thought Mister Mark and others would understand that. Next time I will write based on observation.

NJ, please check facts before posting things as such.

Do they get a warning before they are banned:
That all depends on the reasons for them being warned or banned. I mean, if someone comes on and posts a whole bunch of child porn, then no, we aren't going to give them a slap on the wrist and tell them not to do it again, we're going to ban them. In most cases, people are warned prior to being banned, there are obvious exceptions, but those are few and far between.
Well that sounds logical and not far off from what I said.

Are they told why they are being banned:

There has been much questioning, for some years now as to whether the notes as to why someone is banned, is actually shown to the member. This was recently tested, and determined that no, these reasons are not in fact shown to the member in question and as such, we now send an email to explain why. Some do send PMs, and leave it a while before issuing the ban, but more often than not, it is by email. This is a new policy, and I'm sure it will take some time to get used to.

Do they get a chance to appeal:

Yes, if they want to.
Several of the moderators and myself have their email addresses public on the board, and many have put it to good use (well, mine at least, I won't speak for the others) If someone feels they've been unjustly banned, they are more than welcome to contact me, and I will always forward what ever they wish to be discussed to the others, as I have done with several since making my email available for all to use.

Do we ban who ever we want:

No, with the exception of the obvious (minors, child porn and so on) we discuss all heads ups, warnings, temp and perm bans, and these actions only take place once we've voted.

Nj, I swear you go out of your way to avoid the point at times, I think you're great, but seriously... I was talking about the appeals section, not the rest

*big hugs, I'm just stroppy, need more flu meds*

:biggrin1: I guess I am obtuse and loose as a goose!

Oh you've got it too? Sorry to hear that. :frown1: Did the doc give you anything good? Mine gave me cipro and tessalon perles which are supposed to be non-drowsy but they knock me out and make me dream funny things. Yesterday I dreamt I was sailing up the Jersey coast with my cousin and her kids on a clipper ship. It was fun.

Adults? Could've fooled me!

I have no clue who YOU are either. Guess that makes us both nobodies, huh?

Does it matter that one person got her "banned" for now, because they are not going to ban someone just because she was mean to one person. They had her in vision because she did other things wrong too. And this was the thing that made them decide to ban her for a while. How many people here admire her, just deal with it. This isn't freaking life. It is just a ban. So stop complaining, that is so stupid.

Pieterjoke,

To put this in better perspective, just take a look at your own signature line: "... defend people I like."
