I have very dark brown, almost-black eyes. I've been told that my stare is very intense because of it.

I've gotten similar comments due to the blue of my eyes, funnily enough. Kinda like the soul piercing blue eyed stare thing...them not me. I laugh. Yin/Yang intense stares?

mine are totally black.

With a very bright light and a lot of concentration, I can manage to see some dark brown hues sometimes

I've been a long time lurker on these boards (Hi!). I wanted to do the poll on this thread but I can't. I have a heterochromia..Which means I have two different colored eyes...Green AND blue :)

I have one eye that is pure electric blue, and the other is pure brown.
I say pure because a lot of the times oddeyed people have on pure color and the other eye a mix of the two.

weird, it seems to keep leveling out at half blue (blue&green) and half brown (brown&hazel)
It's an artifact of this being an English-speaking board. I'm going to guess that most of the people here are probably of northern European descent, a population that has more blue eyes. I'd expect a Spanish board to have more brown eyes (Is there a Grupo de Ayuda del Pene Grande?).

I found a reference that said 1 in 6 of Americans now has blue eyes, a decrease from 1 in 3 50 years ago. At the turn of the last century it was 1 in 2. The decrease is related to a change in immigration, marriage patterns, and gene-dominance: when blue eyed folk marry each other they have blue eyed kids; when a blue and brown eyed couple have kids, the kids will be brown eyed (unless the brown eyed parent has a recessive gene, and then statistically half the kids will be brown eyed and half blue). Eventually, given enough time and no preference for eye color, the population will be 25% blue- and 75% brown-eyed.

Baby blues here, and when I get pissed, I'm told they go steel gray.

Take care

I was kind of taking the genetic approach when I posted this and expected it to be 25% blue and 75% brown (ignoring green and counting hazel as brown) since its a "random" sample. I still think its weird that its about 50/50.

Mostly green, with some blue. Sometimes they look ALL blue. And sometimes they look gray.

My dog's eyes are golden. Not yellow, but gold-en.
(When she was a puppy, they were blue. As she got a little older they turned sea green, then green, then golden green, then gold...as the blue faded away.)

Don't stare at a Chessie's eyes unless you have strong character. It's a very dominant thing to do to a dog.
