Toilet paper roll test is pretty much all you need to show you're in the upper-end of girth. Even at skinnier toilet paper rolls and less-forgiving studies, you're at least 80th percentile if you cannot fit.

One more question, Shannon. Regarding the TP roll; what if your glns is too big to fit through one, but your shaft isn't? I measured my TP roll at 5.4". I'm not sure how thick my shaft is (I have tape measure anxiety) but the roll doesn't fit past about mid glans. My shaft is narrower than my glans, of course. What percentile would that rank me, would you say?

Fascinating, Shannon. But doesn't it mean that only one man in roughly 770 would have a length of 7.5" or greater?
Seems low to me.

Actually, that's completely correct.

7.5-8" rarity is about 1 in 1,000. Not low at all, if anything that number is too high.

The SDs there are taken from the Lifestyle's study, but using the median instead of mean. When people are interested in the 'average', they generally mean to ask what's most common, not what the literal 'sum of all numbers it set divided by total numbers in set'. Being strict about averages can get downright nonsensical, e.g. saying that if the average family has 2.5 kids, then you're an average family if your third kid is born without half of their body.

I do think there probably are a lot more 7.5s than that distribution would suggest, which is what I meant when I said this model breaks down quickly at the tail ends. If you look at page 5 here:
http://www.scielo.br/pdf/jped/v83n5/en_v83n5a08.pdf
you'll see in the graph that there's about a full 1" between the 50th percentile and the 90th, but only about 0.5" between the 50th and the 10th, ie. the vast majority of 'medically normal' dicks smaller than average aren't really that much smaller.

My numbers are really more trying to tie these data to perception. Going by Brazil 5.3" is about 25th percentile and 5.6" is 50th, but I think a 5.3" wouldn't really look 'smaller than average'. A full SD, so ~4.9"-5" BEPL would look noticeably smaller, and 6.3" would look a bit bigger than most. 7" would look a lot bigger.

have you noticed the name of the forum or do you just post randomly on boards :biggrin1::biggrin1:

Yeah I pretty much randomly post on boards, but only when something intrigues me as this has. I didn't realise people were so bothered about the size of their dicks, to the degree that there is 'factual data' involved.

Personally, I find the fact people try to have an intelligent conversation about this hilarious! Especially when they go from talking about sticking their dicks in a toilet paper roll, to giving percentages and medians. It's brilliant! :biggrin1::biggrin1:

If you want to try to determine percentile rank of any parameter that is normally distributed using an estimate of mean and standard deviation (whether it be penis length, penis girth, or anything else) you can use a Z-score. The Z-score of a given observation is how many standard deviations it departs from the mean.

You can use this interactive graph: Interactive Graph of the Standard Normal Curve: Measuring Usability

If you assume an average penis length of 5.5" (whether that be BPEL or NBPEL), a standard deviation of 0.7", and a normal distribution of adult penis length (a big "if", in my opinion), lets say you have a length of 6.5" Your Z-score is (6.5-5.5)/0.7 = 1.43.

Use the interactive graph for the one-tailed area under the normal curve if you want to know the percentage of men who are longer (or shorter) than you. Use your mouse to adjust the Z-score as close to 1.43 as possible. You find that 92.4% of men are shorter and 7.6% of men are longer.

Personally, I believe that penis size distribution is skewed rightward with more large outliers than would be predicted from a normal distribution, but you might think otherwise.

I kinda thought that having a big Dick meant you had a long Dick. Having read quite a few post on here I realize that being thick is a lot more important than length. Still its hard for me to believe i'm in. the top .5% in girth?

If you use the mid shaft erect circumference mean and standard deviation recorded in the study referenced in this thread: http://www.lpsg.org/290739-average-size-some-data.html

(Mean erect mid shaft circumference 4.84", standard deviation 0.52".)

If you have a mid shaft girth of 6.0" you are (6.0-4.84)/0.52 = 2.23 standard deviations above the mean. Assuming penis circumference is normally distributed and those estimates of mean and s.d. are reasonably accurate, you would be thicker in girth (at mid shaft) than about 98.7% of men.

Red, what about 5.5-5.6? What percentile would that be?

... I think i big one (according to a chick) depends on who shes fucked before you, accompanied with what she hears from her friends or sees in porn. ...

While I think that correct measurements compared against mean & median can tell someone if they are below avg, avg, above avg, at the end of the day when it comes to what women think it's more along the lines of what you listed.
