Obviously fair? LOL! You have GOT to be kidding me! Putting the head of the first black president of the United States on the body of an African witch doctor is NOT racist?!? LOL!

Come on, bro. Don't play that game with me. Putting Obama on the body of a Christian "healer" wouldn't have worked just as well to get the same message across? No...they had to use the old racist trope of the savage African to make their point.

I'm not the racist here, dude. And perhaps you are not, either. But to make excuses for this is not only naive, it's outrageous and immoral. I have a feeling you know better. Rise above the bullshit, bro.

I thought my sarcasm was obvious... but re-reading my post, I guess it could have come from Trinity, ericsson, et. al. my bad.

Thank you for exposing how Liberals really feel about the working class. Us working stiffs (in my case self employed) should not put forth any effort to create economic activity. Let's just all throw the towel in and sit around waiting for the government hand out.

People like you think business is a milk cow that can be drained for all its worth. Few realize it's the workhorse that pulls the car called "US Economy". If you don't take proper care of the horse, you won't get the economy going anywhere.

It's not like 70% of Americans are employed by small businesses (oh wait, they are!). It's not like my company employs four people full time and uses several independent contracts (oh wait, it does). So yeah, I wear a cape in that manner.

All liberal postings contain the exact same language they accuse the fringe right off.

By the way, as I am a minority, by making the statements you did about me, you are now officially a racist, as per the standards put forth by your own crowd.

I think it's important to not lump people into groups using sweeping generalizations. No, I don't think all people who are upset with Obama's push for health care reform are racist. But, I do think there is a large contingent that is, and they will adopt any issue that casts Obama in a negative light. With the history of race relations in this country, it is naive to think that there isn't an undercurrent of racism to some of the protests.

Now, I have been accused of being cynical for my thoughts on the culture wars in this country. But the fact of the matter remains that just because we have a black president, that doesn't somehow negate the issues of race that continue to exist in this country. And I agree that there are times when people do play the "race card" when race is clearly not a factor, and that does make it tougher for people who really are the victims of racism. While Joe Wilson may not have called the president a racial epithet, his integrity is called into question when his history of involvement in racist organizations is revealed.

Now, regarding your remark about the working class - I came from the working class. My parents worked hard to make sure I got the best education so that I might have a better, easier life than they did. But they also taught me the importance of helping others. What happened to the American ideal that when my neighbor does well, I do well? I don't see why it is such a horrible thing to have federal programs to make sure the poorest among us can get a helping hand so that, maybe one day, they will have their own small business. Maybe one day they will work for you! What's so terrible about that?

I'm with you in the red part (I honestly didn't mean to make this a red vs. blue issue, but these colors work better than this for example).

Your parents worked hard to provide a better live for you and ensure you would be able to get an education. That is indeed the American way. Helping out your neighbors, that too is the American way (I could insert a link to statistics showing that conservatives donate time, money, and other resources to charitable causes more often than liberals, but let's not digress). My question is, where did the federal government step in to make all this happen for you and your parents?

I'm all for giving people a hand-up, but it seems to me most government programs (indeed there are exceptions, albeit rare) create a dependency by the recipient on what are essentially hand-outs. Never mind the waste of resources in the bureaucracy (80 cents of each dollar spend on welfare stays within the system for example).

Even before we look at the inefficiency of the government in how it manages itself, look at the money wasted on pork spending. The stimulus package, despite assurances from Obama, was riddled with wasteful programs. They are spending a billion dollars that will do very little, if anything, for the economy and real job creation. Had they divided that billion equally among all taxpayers it would have done much more, much quicker for the economy, but we can discuss that some other time if you'd like.

My definition of stupidity is repeating the same action while expecting a different result. How long has "the war on poverty" been going on? Makes the mess in Iraq look like a walk in the park.

Education is another example, the overall mantra by the left is that "we have to spend more money on education." Yet test scores have not improved, far from it. Yet any attempt to do something different is immediately shut down. Not to digress (I do have the worst case of ADD you'll ever encounter), but one goal I hear Liberals strive for is equality for all. Why not allow all parents to choose their children's schools? At the very least, why not have an honest discussion about it? The moment school vouchers are mentioned, the teachers union gets on the phone with the Democrats and gets them to shut it down. (Don't get me started on the mess created by "No Child Left Behind").

Point is that the idea of creating programs to help people sounds nice, but the execution leave much to be desired.

The inalienable rights from the United States Declaration of Independence are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It's the pursuit that the founders thought should be guaranteed, not happiness itself. Your parents took that pursuit to heart and you should be both grateful and proud of them for it. But do you honestly think they would have been able to provide for you as they did if they waited for the government to come through?

I just want to let you know that I owe you a response, but I can't devote the time to it this evening. But trust me...it's a-comin'. :biggrin1:
