I know what you all are saying...that is like a prehistoric time for me back then and such...but name events and incidents that occured when you were a kid or a young adult...what hairstyle you had, what clothes you worn, and what you remember the most about that certain year then.

I have Day Planner and Filofax organizers saved but sadly only since 1986... So I went on the internet and looked at a few things to jog my memory.
In 1982 I was working long hours as a lawyer and not enjoying it very much.
I was visiting my father in London when Prince William was born.
I was visiting my mother in LA when I heard that Princess Grace had died.
The movies that stick out to me are...
Chariots Of Fire
On Golden Pond
Atlantic City
Reds
Private Benjamin (?)

Television
The Weather Channel started on television...
Magnum PI
Dynasty
Hill Street Blues
David Letterman debuted.

Braniff Airlines went out of business...

Dreamgirls won the Tony award for Best Musical on Broadway (I went to The Tony Awards that year)

I think it was in 1982 that I joined a gym for the first time...

I had a really really short hair cut that I put gel or mousse in to make it really stiff and crunchy.

I found a some really marvelous clothing in Italy by someone I had not heard of yet in the US named Giorgio Armani the fabric and workmanship was unbelievable. I wish I still had a couple of those items.
I was mostly wearing Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren to work. I was wearing Norma Kamali and Joan Vass tee shirts or sweatshirts and jeans (the original Calvin Klein jeans) when I was not working...(everything had really big shoulder pads)
I bought a full length mink coat that year I think. I did not really want it but I did it to piss off the PETA people protesting in front of Bloomingdales.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are born.
Chariots of Fire wins Best Picture at the Oscars
Epcot opens in Orlando Fl.
First CD player is introduced by Sony.
The Comadore 64 is released.
Andre and I become a couple and in December we move in together.
My favorite TV show was Miami Vice.
Mini skirts were back, leg warmers and head bands were hot.
T-shirts worn under a sports coat or suite jacket.
Dress pants were baggy, pleated and tapered at the cuff.
Padded shoulders, cowboy boots and Gucci loafers. Hawaiian print shirts.
Facial stubble was hot

I was 22 and married to an asshat. I was probably separated from him for part of the year. I went to Mass. and Fla. for vacation. I worked at the largest t-shirt screen printer in the southeast.

Well most of the 80's are kind of a blur for me.... but in 1982, I do know that I was heavily into rock n roll, was moving from rock band to rock band and had really long curly hair. Favoured skin tight jeans and t-shirts - lots of denim & leather. Inspired by Joan Jett kind of look.

But most of all, it was a great year because Luka was born :)

I was also allowed to go to the shops on my own for the first time (bout half a mile away) - with bloody 2p to buy penny sweets. Grrr. Someone was takin the piss!

Haha, the piss-taking sounds familiar.
