I almost always say "nuke" for microwaving something, not sure why. I said that once at my grandmother's house and she didn't know what I was talking about.

I prefer Diet Coke to regular, so if I'm at a restaurant I am always specific about that. If they don't serve Coke I will usually have a Mountain Dew, because that tastes at least OK to me, whereas Pepsi tastes pretty nasty. I remember my Mom drank Tab when I was younger, I was allowed to drink it too sometimes, but diet Coke was a big improvement. But I go to the store and pick up some "pop", that was just the way I heard everyone refer to it when I was little.

Oh, and I have a three word phrase if I'm watching something with another person and I miss a good part: waitgoback . Feel free to use that one. :biggrin1:

We call soda/pop 'soft drink'. I don't think I have EVER heard an Australian call it soda or pop!

When I was growing up, there was a generic brand called "Black & Gold". (I haven't seen it in years, but a quick Google search says it's still around.) Mum would buy their brand of soft drinks. Even though it was just 'Cola', we always called it 'Coke'. Their version of Fanta was called 'Orange Flavour', but in our family it was called 'Fizzy Orange', which always made more sense to me.....

I always nuke things up in the microwave. I used that term once (can't remember where) and no one knew what I meant!

Even in Canada terms can mean different things. A friend in Ontario says that a case of beer means 24, while in the West where I live it means 12. My Eastern friends called a pack of cigarettes, a deck of smokes.

That's perfect! I think I've used that one, too! :biggrin1:

We call soda/pop 'soft drink'.

I say that when I'm ordering in a restaurant because it's what the menu says. Outside of that situation, I don't think I ever use it. I've never noticed that before just now.
