What about Vermont? Maple Syrupers?
It depends....
If your parents were born in Vermont and you've lived there the vast majority of your life (allowances made for being born a little early in another place by mistake or going to college somewhere else) then you're a
Vermonter.
If your parents weren't born in Vermont, and even if you were, then you're a
flatlander.
Know what's bizarre? My sister's husband was born in Vermont and then spent most of his life in Rhode Island, my sister was born here in New York, but their son was born in Vermont. Neither my sister or brother-in-law have a Vermont accent but their son does! No one knows where or how he got it because they mostly associate with other flatlanders.
Chadian, that's easy, what do you call people from Galway City (Ireland)
This irks me because I've been to Galway TWICE and should damn well know... but I don't.
