The part of the frame that goes from the hinge of the frame to the ears. I would call them legs or arms, but I don't know. What do you call them.

It's so weird that those things don't have a common name that everyone knows. I need to write a letter about a pair of glasses where that part broke but I don't know what to call it. :Flush:

I've always called them arms, but it seems that Charles is right in calling them temples.

I think if you call them arms everyone can understand what part that is. Temples may be the accurate term but it is not widely known.

Ha! This is so funny Mem; I just got my sunglasses back from being repaired & the temple pieces were one of the things that needed repair.

On a side note; eight weeks without sunglasses was HELL. :firedevil:

Surely people who repair them will know the term.

true...but arms are really no different than stems, or sides, in terms of what people mean.

anyway, the only time i can remember even using the term is when someone would try on my sunglasses and i'd say something like "don't stretch out the frame"...although the frame is technically around the lenses, the entire wire/plastic portion of the glasses are the "frame", since glasses cannot remain on the face without a frame to support them there.

"don't stretch out the sides" was probably the best way for me to refer to them in terms of what was easiest for me.
