I prefer cock on phonetic grounds. The word dick has a front vowel which makes it sound smaller than cock with its broad back vowel. Cock just sounds more resonant and majestic than dick. Of course, neither has shit on purple-headed yogurt-slinger.

So, what do the consonants say? What does a voiceless postalveolar affricate followed by an open-mid, front, unrounded vowel say?

Well, voiceless stops generally sound more forceful than voiced ones, and especially velars. In the case of cock, the back vowel is flanked by the same voiceless velar plossive, resulting in a generally forceful sound. Now about a voiceless postalveolar affricate followed by an open-mid, front, unrounded vowel ... I can't think of an English slang term for the penis that contains the combination che.

I prefer "cock", too, on similar grounds, but...

I feel dinscriminated against by your last cock name! MINE DOESN'T GET PURPLE!

It must be how interlectwoal I am, because I would call it my "penis" most of the time, but if somebody else called it something else, I would use the same word they did.

And for making a funny I'd call it a "wickey-woo-wah".

I'm with SomeGuyOverThere, I call it my "penis" also. I think the word penis has a very sexy sound to it.

Unless I'm in a group of older wimmin... then I refer to it as my "manpole of heavenly pleasure" just to watch someone faint.

DICK DICK DICK love tha word DICK
[post=344366]Quoted post[/post]

That reminds me of the famous, Black Forest Clocks which decorate homes the world over with their pornography:

"... dick-dick-dick-dick-dick"

* little yellow bird emerges *

"Cockoo! (dong!) Cockoo! (dong!)"

"... dick-dick-dick-dick......"

"Petey", that's cute!

All the guys cock's/dick's/peni etc., were called "Jimmy" by the family.....which is weird, since no one was or is named Jim, James or Jimmy.

Just an aside here: in Spain, the most popular slang term for penis is polla, which means hen. Interesting that English uses the masculine word for chicken (i. e. cock) while Spanish uses the feminine one. On second thought, maybe it's not so interesting.

I refer to mine as neither 'cock' nor 'dick' but as Roddy (like the same-named picture-book kangaroo, the name comes from a child care worker I dated that said he reminded her of a kangaroo), before that I called him either 'Private Johnny', or he was the Bomber. Also I refer to him as a 'he', don't like the neutral 'it' when it comes to talking about my endowment.

??? *snort*

I have no idea if any of the above has grammatical/phonetic grounds or is just a bunch of hooey. Gentlemen, you just illustrated the reason I are an engineer.
