sigh. it wasn't meant as an attack, and i thought it was on topic because i was trying to point out that those are artificial concepts about what a man is.

This is an easy one

* If you can change a tire you can change a diaper* per me, WGC.

If you can't change a diaper you aren't a man.

case closed.

I didn't take it as an attack. I would not have mentioned it. No problem.

I am glad that I have friends here that will take up for me, though.

I do understand, and sympathize with those who have insecurities.
It's hard, very hard at times...

Tell me about it! I obviously have a lot of insecurities too, and have been attacked for that before.

I'm working on it, but unfortunately one of the things I need to work on is hindering me from working on all the rest! The one thing being I need to work on being able to get and keep a decent job, so I can have the money to work on all the other stuff! (meaning things like, join a gym, buy more flattering clothes, do more activities with the clubs I'm in, etc...)

I did get a raise at my temp job this week though - don't know by how much yet.

I've been thinking about this question and my conclusion is that I have no answer. I've only begun to grasp what it is to be a woman. I don't feel qualified to speak for the other gender yet.

A few ideas but still nothing concrete.

You are the very essence of what a woman is!:biggrin1:
Well, that's my opinion anyway...

I just discovered something about someone that set him apart from the boys: the ability to forgive.
YES! Isn't it amazing how many invisible and nebulous qualities often come together to make a man, a MAN.

Not to hijack this thread; but I should add that the same quality in a woman is a very good thing.

I come from a family of matriarchal women who pride themselves on their ability to hold a grudge. I have often been chastised for either not holding a grudge or in some instances not holding the grudge long enough. :wtf1: Consequenty I'm not that close to some of my extended family . . .

Being able to forgive is almost a divine quality, isn't it? It is, however, very important. So is the ability to admit one is in the wrong.

For some reason, the physical qualities that make a man come to mind in questions like this thread. Those really aren't the most important, though, are they?

No, not by any means...

Well, if he's male and he's an adult, he's a man.
That reminds me of a quote: "Almost any man can be a father; it takes someone special to be a daddy."

I think a woman can do all those things too. But a woman can't be a male adult, so that is what makes a man a man. OK... I am getting into uncomfortable territory for me here since nearly everyone (not just probably here but IRL too) disagrees with my views on these related subjects. I will stop here before I meet with hostility.
Well, that may not be too far from the truth, at least from my perspective. Actually, some of the same qualities that make a male "a real man" also make a female "a real woman." Integrity figures strongly for either one, in my humble opinion.
