I guess it would depend on the type of briefs. If they are the department store bargain variety, then I would say the guy needs to invest in some good quality and comfortable underwear.

I wear Underarmour Boxerjocks for work. Love the fit and the support. The proformance fabric it great for moisture wicking. Outside of work I mix it up with briefs , jocks and bikinis.

Briefs guy here. I personally like briefs due to their size. I have no interest in meaning any more material than I need to wear for underwear. I find boxers and boxer briefs to be hot to wear, trapping more heat against my body. As for guys thinking briefs are for kids? Would you say the same if a kid only wore boxers growing up rather than briefs? I think a guy should wear what ever feels best to him. These last several decades, briefs are very different from the plain old white briefs of our youth, just as boxers and boxer briefs are much more stylish and comfortable than the ones we all grew up with if you are middle age. As for comfort for you big guys, sometimes I think you guys put on a bit too much show about needing so much room for your junk! We get it, you are so well hung that you need a coffee can to hold your junk!LOL I am surprised to see that the fraternity I am a part of now as a alumni, I have seen that many of the guys have switched to briefs because they find them more comfortable and their girlfriends love them in them LOL Times and taste of style are always changing.
A lot of guys recently grew up wearing boxers as kids, so yeah, briefs being a kids underwear type doesn't really apply anymore. I remember when boxers were an old mans underwear.
How do you know that many of the guys in your fraternity have now switched to briefs and it was for comfort and because of their girlfriends? Are you talking about the undergrads or the alumni? I'd love to have those conversations (since I'm a bit of an undie freak). In my undergrad days, my fraternity brothers mostly wore briefs. I was the odd guy in boxers. During our "initiation week" we all slept in the same room and would eventually strip down to our underwear. Everyone wore tighty whities, even me. Memories!

I just think it a guys who needs no frill and wants decent support. Frugile, wants the most for his money. I know several guys who work all week in briefs but have boxer briefs or boxers for weekends.

I wear briefs and jocks. I lounge around in boxers if there is someone in the house. If not, I am naked.

Under these circumstances, I am bound to think that a guy wearing briefs is hot, and would be hotter if I get to strip them off him and do the dirty. :):)

I think most straight men have no issue with what type of underwear the next man is wearing. I don't care.

Personally, I grew up wearing briefs as a kid until my high school year, switched to boxers, wore those until early 30's and now I'm back to briefs and glad I made the switch. Much more comfortable.

At the gym I see men in everything from boxers to fashion designer jocks. I never really think anything of it except if a guy has on old dingy underwear. I alway think geez go get it together. No one at home wants to see that.

The last guy I dated and slept with was around 40 and only wore briefs. He told me had never worn boxers, he just kept buying briefs as he aged. We didn't really discuss it in length but I assume he was more comfortable. He definitely looked good in them.

Most guys at the gym I frequent wear boxer briefs. I wear boxers the vast majority of the time.

Grown men shouldn't wear boxers! Doubly so for knit boxers. I was wearing boxer briefs until recently, but my balls seem to have got looser, and have started to fall down the leg, especially with the action of getting into and out of the car. So I am back to briefs - slips / bikini briefs - they fit closer into the groin and keep everything in place, preventing fall-out. Surprisingly, the cheapest chain store ones are best.

I agree with the guys above who've stated the top priority is that the underwear not be dingy or ratty.

Fit is important too. Like with swimwear, some guys just aren't proportioned right for certain cuts/styles and it has NOTHING to do with how good a shape a guy's in. There's an old thread somewhere here with opinions about which styles tend to flatter which builds.

It's interesting how different styles are perceived. In the U.S. I think it's generational but I don't know about other countries. For my generation* tighty-whities are for kids and FTL is/was the quintessential tighy-whitey. The announce "my mother buys my underwear". And loose, baggy boxers are for old men.

NON tighty-whitey briefs send an entirely different message. They say "I'm in shape and sexy". As soon as we were able we ditched the tighty-whites and bought Jockey briefs. Many of us have added boxer-briefs & trunks since.

*Those of us whose hormones kicked in at about the same time Jim Palmer appeared in damn near every advertising venue in his Jockey briefs. This probably had a permanent affect on us. I wonder if anyone's done a study?
