I would say that he's proud of his stuff, perhaps loves any intention or "peeks" that he gets, and maybe even enjoys the idea that he's shaming those of us who aren't hung like a horse.
Not sure what to make of your question actually. When you say he opens his towel and shows off the goods, does he do this and then wraps the towel around the waist again, or is he simply removing it to start getting dressed ? Maybe you're reading a lot more into this than what's actually going on. If he's noticed you looking at him when you talk, it could be that he's feeling flattered by it or he's just going about his business the same way he would if he showered at home and was getting dressed.

To be honest, when I go to the gym I tend to just do my thing and leave. I don't chat much with others. But with some herb... I might be a little more aware of my surroundings. Maybe even strike up a quick conversation here and there. I do understand I'm mid 60's in a gym with mostly 20-30 somethings. Nobody is going to flirt with "their dad"

Asking the question in that manner sheds a different light on the OP and his interpretations of mens' behavior in his presence.
Maybe he likes showing off his dick for the reason of the people's reaction. Not because he is well hung rather he has a micropenis and proud of it.

Tongue in cheek I know, but if a guy is straight 100%, then he is straight and IMO the OP here is seeing more to it than there really is, with due respect to the OP. Someone gave an example of a guy taking off his towel above. Even a straight guy might look at that and say to himself holy f**k, but have no sexual interest in it. Just a guy in the locker room being close to the largest or the largest he has seen. I think even straight guys, while they have no interest in other guys, would take a look at that towel open and wish they had equipment like that! But don't put more into it than there is. He could simply be an exhibitionist as well, proud of what he has and thinks everyone else will be too.
