I think your questions are right on and reflect the attitudes regarding PreP and I think the responses you get will vary slightly generationally. I answered B because I think PreP will help protect people who enjoy barebacking, but there still needs to be a conversation with your sex partner about their HIV status. If I were on PreP and I met a guy who said he was HIV- I wouldn't think twice about bb. If I were with a guy who were HIV+ with an undetectable virus level I think I might hesitate, even though PreP is supposed to protect the person taking it. Personally I think answer A is overkill and answer C ignores the fact that you can still contract HIV whether you take a load or not. I'm negative, btw.

I have to agree with @hvdude. A is a little overbroad and B is a little blasé.

I don't know the long term effects on PreP when in combination with other medications. I would love to truly believe that it is a panacea. As someone from an HIV -/+ relationship, I trust PreP with skeptical optimism. I think PreP has its place, but I also think people should still talk about health issues.

I would answer C, but it leaves out several perspectives. PreP is not just for bottoms that want to bareback with anal sex. There are other reasons to take it other than "taking loads".

I answered A.

Just because this reduces the chances of being infected by the HIV virus, it doesn't do that for any other STD.

It provides zero protection from those.

Whilst I've voted 'A' I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, still HIV negative, but there again, I practice safer sex and yes there is still a risk of infection, I just don't want to be pumped full of chemicals that cause liver and kidney damage and as Sklar said PrEP give absolutely no protection against other STI's. Herpes and warts will be the next big thing and are already massively increasing. I do not want urethral herpes or warts let alone anal.
If you have another infection, your risk of HIV infection increases - I don't think the research has been done into the efficacy of PrEP whilst the body is fighting other infections. It might be a moot point, but I don't think it is.

I'll be brutally honest with my opinion, and please feel free to correct me if I'm off base as I haven't done my due diligence in researching the drug.

From a social impact perspective I disagree with the concept of a prophylactic drug that provides partial protection against one of many STIs. It creates a false sense of security and can lead to risky sexual behavior that may have otherwise been safe sexual behavior (or none at all).

From my own personal psychological perspective, I am extremely hesitant to engage in sexual activities with someone who is on PReP because it implies to me that they regularly engage in risky sexual behavior and feel the need for prophylaxis. This may be totally off base, but it's how I feel and I hope that I haven't offended anyone with that statement.

I'm not trying to minimize the threat of HIV, but the best way to prevent the spread is to know your status and be honest about it with others. When in doubt, don't. Ask yourself, is an evening of fun really worth the risk of contracting a life threatening virus?

I don't use prep, and have no idea where to get it.

It has no meaning in my life.

I use condoms for anal sex.

I don't find condoms a problem. I get good quality erections, especially if I use a Viagra etc, and it's easy to roll a condom down over it and feel ( and be ) much more safe. Some people are weird.

:)

You get PrEP at your local sexual health clinic. I'm surprised they not discussed it with you when you've been for a MOT ;)

Hope you're getting the Viagra from your GP and not an online 'pharmacy' cos they filled with all sorts of crap.

@w28761 I agree, if your life is in chaos and drug fuelled what are the chances of remembering to pop a pill at the same time every day?!!

But, I suspect we all have risky behaviour in sex, how many of us use condoms for oral sex, how many of us let men cum in our mouths? I don't use condoms for oral sex and yes some men cum in my mouth - all strangers and anon sex and I have poor gums - perfect teeth just crap gums ;( so the risk of HIV goes up. Been lucky so far

If on the other hand if you're like @Teague and a regular dude, not in chaos or living life drug fuelled but hates condoms then it has to be a better option than HIV and all the side effects and expense to the tax payer, as long as he pops a pill every 24 hours on the dot.

Well time to go hunting enjoy your day ;)
