I, again, ask... Are a US Citizen? And if so, do you consider yourself part of the United States or the Confederate States?

I think it would be helpful to understand your comments, and ideas, on this topic if you would clarify.

And again i ask. Does it matter if i'm an american or not? Does it matter what i consider myself as. You might wanna spin that exhausted hamster in its wheel before you make another post.

Yes, it matter if I want to understand your point of view and whether your reactions to the confederate flag is from an external perspective or is more subjective.

I've answered your question and ask that you answer mine.

No. I feel like being immature today. So instead of trying to be reasonable and point out this or that i'm just gonna behave like a complete dick while shattering your ideology on the issue. Every has bad days. This is mine.

Sooooo what you're saying is. And this is not my usual jokeyness. You need to know what country i come from to even begin to understand my point of view on a forum where words are involved? Why can't you just read? Can you not read? Oh i'm sorry, of course you can read. Could be that you can't read well?

We both agreed, there is revision (or rewriting) of history.

Since, I had a lot of information from your posts, but lacked the frame of reference, I was hoping to understand your point of view on the confederate flag and its meaning. Without that frame of reference, I don't know whether your 'voice' is that of lingering views of the southern separatist's dissention, revisionist views of the northern "union', the objective perspective of American events or some other.

I will presume you don't want people to understand that perspective since you don't want to share that and, while disappointed, will respect your privacy.

ah hahahahahahahahahahahahaha....(coughs) hahahahaha. So the guy with the confederate flag behind him that wants the right to call all muslims evil thinks obama energizer bunnied racism. Da...fuq.

No one's saying anything about race huh.

Sorry i was laughing so hard i copied the wrong quote. The reason its so funny is because this guy is the embodiment of why the confederate needs not to see the light of day outside of history. Ann coulter just knows people will throw money at her if she says outrageous things.
- Me

Think it might be a good idea for you to go into that much detail with racists/bigots not only using the flag but doing horrible things in the name of it. I don't know about you but i don't really feel up to seeing an isis flag anywhere. People place meaning on all sorts of things so if it's ok to have pride in one flag while ignoring it's history then it should be ok to have pride in another while ignoring it's history. Hopefully you get the drift here.

Notwithstanding how the conversation has degraded, I am happy to say if I see a confederate flag flown by someone, yes I make inferences about what that means. No apologies. Same if I saw a nazi flag. I'd make inferences if I saw a soviet flag too. We have a flag you can fly that stands for a lot of good stuff, Its legacy is far from perfect but always aspirational. It is the stars and stripes not the stars and bars. The confederate flag is by purpose and design unAmerican.

An unbeatable combination: George Zimmerman, Andrew Hallinan, his Muslim-free gun store, and the Confederate Flag
http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2015/0...federate-flag-3-divisive-symbols-1-fundraiser

Found a couple things interesting about that article.

‘These bigoted declarations are no different than ‘whites only’ signs posted in businesses during a period of our nation’s history that we hoped was over,’ said Ibrahim Hooper, CAIR's national communications director.”

So it would seem that certain individuals would like for the country to back peddle into a time machine. Yet they still want to be able to discriminate against others because of their sexuality.

Also i wonder if it's possible to make a racist free zone. Meaning gun owners couldn't sell guns to anyone with racist/bigoted views.

In response to the original post, I have not read a single reply: It's a flag, don't get all f-ing butthurt over a scrap of cloth. If you get offended over a particular color pattern, you should probably toughen up and stop being a gigantic, overly sensitive baby, the world is full of offensive things.

The Confederate flag aside for being painted on the roof of the General Lee, Car from the Dukes of Hazard TV show, has no meaning to me. I understand what it and the time line or events in US history that it represents.

First off I am American,Though born in the North my roots are from the Carolina's. Family History wise my documented family tree exists 2 full generations before the Civil War started. When the war started, those ancestors who owned slaves and land were pro succession and those in bondage if they had any understanding of the events around then surely on the side of the Union. Not a well known fact some slave owner were back themselves

If a person want to fly it in their yard, if some A - Hole wants to fly it on the back of his truck, fine as long as they are not doing to to intimidate or irritate others. Does it belong on Government buildings ? No. Does it belong on state issued Licence plates ? No

The war was over when Lee, surrendered. Remember that Texas was once Mexico property. It would be like Texas still flying the Mexican Flag on its official buildings though Mexico lost the property, just to show Mexican heritage and pride

Though this is serious thread, I could not resist adding this clip

See this flag
This is the one the world recognises as the United States. The country, it's citizens that helped mankind reach out. You can look back, but it is supposed to teach us about looking forward and being united.

"One small step for man" I'm sure he meant to say Hu...man :)

In 200 years time do you really want your Grandkids, Great, Great Grandkids to be arguing over what tore your country apart or what bought it together?

Get over yourselves and view the big picture. Because, it's a big bloody Universe.

We have stars in our flag too. Why stars? Because we are among infinite stars in the Universe. If we are not united here, there is no future there.

What I have to say is so important that I don't need to actually participate in the discussion to participate in the discussion.

No, because 26 pages of replies is too much for a forum post. Don't play that accusatory high and mighty game. It's a flag, get over it.

I'm not playing a game. I'm making snarky commentary on bullshit behavior. Reading 26 pages is perhaps too much to ask. Reading none? LOL You might has well have cut a lace pattern into a piece of poster board and held it over your head while screaming "Only my opinion matters!"

If the topic isn't important enough to read, it isn't worth commentary either. You know. Unless you're a special snowflake.

So it's just the American flag with "shameful history"? All the other nations are free and clear. What a bunch of BS.

Sorry it took so long to reply; I've been going through all my posts, trying to find where I said anything like that. As soon as I do, I'll get back to you.

Why should he read anyone's comments before offering his own? He responded to the OP question with his own commentary. Perhaps he mentioned not reading any of the other comments to remove himself from the conversation that was happening. The majority of this thread has been a bunch of whining and griping and one-upping each other based on everyone's understanding of "defensive" or "revision vs. rewriting". Blah blah blah. His comments are as welcomed here as anyone else's and it's not your place to decide. Part of the problem with all the division in this country is NOT a piece of cloth, or various cultures, or income inequality but the fact that we don't respect our fellow man enough to have a conversation with them without being belittling or condescending or rude. If we all realized a little more how much more we are alike than different, a lot of the crap that goes on in this world would change in a snap.
