"Bless your heart" is a polite Southern way of dismissing someone (a genteel "fuck you", if you will)....another favorite is "God love him" (when you know he's a moron and only God could love him).
While we're asking what happened to plain old common decency, I'd also like to know whatever happened to good customer service???
I am not going to mention anyone by name here as it is no one member, but can people at least keep the venom and blatant hate off the forum?
That is all.
What happened to common decency? I think the internet killed it. Have you been anywhere else online? This place is actually quite civil by comparison to some other sites.
Come on, it's only the net, if someone's abusive or threatening we all know they're only doing it because in real life they'd be likely to get a smack in the mouth for giving voice to their moronic rantings. We're all grown ups, the net can be fun but it can on occasion be unpleasant, we should all take the rough with the smooth. Anyone who's been on the net a certain length of time knows that arseholes don't last too long on any site.
Edited because I just saw NIN's post - I can second that, this site is like a walk in the park compared to some sites where people get really vicious and really personal.

If it was some Utopian net paradise what would we all find to yack about![]()
I have been other places online. There are some forums/newsgroups that I refuse to post anything in because of the hatred and vicious attacks that were prevalent there! Some newsgroups I won't even visit anymore - they have turned from their original purpose into just spewing hate.
Fortunately, I have also visited forums recently that do seem to be civil (at least so far!), so I am ok with posting there. I still shy away from posting any opinion that is controversial, anywhere (even here, although I have done so a little bit.) I don't deal well with personal attacks.
Have to agree with that. I've been flamed, blackballed and booted from sites simply for expressing a view different from what the popular clique of contributors wanted to hear.
That is the most controversial post I have ever seen and I now feel the need to heinously attack you on an extremely personal level.
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries.
THERE!
I don't hate anyone.. people deserve it though. Sorry I tell it like it is. Thoughtful thread though.I am sure this is not the first thread on this (nor will it be the last), but over the last 24 hours I have seen extremely rude and threatening posts made to other members of the forum. I can't speak to the reasons for them, but I can say they are definitely unneeded.

I find it vaguely amusing when someone attacks me, if only they knew how much of a waste of their time it was, it never upsets me or gets to me in any way, they seem to fail to take into account what I often tell people - why should something a stranger says upset anyone?
As for being controversial, go for it, as long as what anyone is saying is truly their opinion and not said just to be an annoying little twirp why should anyone hold back from stating it as long as they're not making juvenile personal attacks. We're all adults we should be able to have different opinions and the ability to state them without coming to blows.
