I've learned that if you tell somebody how to hurt you, they just might do it. People will sometimes exploit your vulnerabilities for their own evil reasons.
I've also learned to love like that can't happen.

    What have YOU learned?

When people show you who they are, BELIEVE them.

The hardest thing in life is to want what you have.

Low aim, not failure, is sin.

You can not talk your way out a place you acted your way into.

People are afraid of and intimidated by the truth.

Conviction makes people question themselves, and therefore, makes them uncomfortable.

Get to know people, it helps - in more ways than one.

And, according to Pecker, Americans have small bladders.

WOW! I'm gonna write that one down!

But is the opposite true? When people DON'T show themselves to you, should you DISBELIEVE them? :p

The quote that you are going to quote has probably already been written down multiple times by the likes of Maya Angelou(Poet Laureate), IYanla Vanzant(Starting Over) and Oprah Winfrey. Believe me, they all learned it the hard way.

When people dont show themselves to you, dont beat yourself up for working with faulty information. If you were omniscient, omnipotent, or omnipresent then there would be no need for God. As far as I am concerned ,to use another quote "...if ever we needed the Lord before, we sure do need him now"

    Thanks for more background Naughty.
HickBoy--I first heard that while watching an episode of Oprah. IIRC, she was doing a show about abusive spouses and she used that quote to drive home the fact that abusive behaviors do not change.

I have found it to be SO true in so many instances. People are who they are--for better or for worse.

That's hard to deal with sometimes, because the ugliest packages can come wrapped in the prettiest paper.

    Hickboy,

Didnt you know that the Devil was the most beautiful of God's creations? LOL! Yes, it is a shame isnt it. But there are some who are as wonderful on the inside as they are on the outside. I think many times people who are considered beautiful fall prey to those who are attracted to their exteriors very early on and over time develop protective mechanisms to counteract the insecurity that arises from others either wanting to exploit them or the fear of the loss of this "gift" that is so sought after and envied. For many loss of beauty is loss of self if they have not had to develop anything else about themselves

Don't put off til tomorrow what you can do today.

When you've made a decision, act on it and don't leave it too late...

Most (seemingly disastrous) situations are salvagable, despite what you might think.

You can do anything you put your mind to.

Prices for swimming have gone up A LOT.

Not all girls like to be touched up in a public swimming pool.

Bisexuality is not just a phase in a gay man's coming out process.

Never be so concerned with the outside world that you forget who are and what you could become. If Man was created in God's image and God works in mysterious ways, then we are fashioned from a divine source and we are mysterious children of God. Everything we've done, are doing, and will do revolves around choices and action. The IN BOX will always be full. Never ever compare, there will always be someone better than you so be happy sharing the stage with everybody. The measure of man is calculated by how he/she treats the ones encountered in their lives.
Not all who wander are lost. The best sex is better when you haven't done it (the outcomes are always neutral). We are a work-in-progress.

Oh, why wasn't I reading Maya Angelou when I was going through my Hell relationship? Actions speak louder than words, in all cases! If someone acts like and ass, then they ARE an ass, no two ways about it. It doesn't matter a fig what someone SAYS about who they are if their behavior tells a different story. That one was learned the very hard way.

    Maya Angelou...
    Bill Wilson...
    Lois Wilson...
    Melody Beattie...

I would prefer to have read all of these folks a few years earlier than I did.

But I got what I got when I needed it. Always. :)
