I do a lot of stuff but I don't do them all that often...

Hiking (I like to hike in groups, but I'm too slow for the people I associate with! They're all in much better shape than me, and always arrange fast-paced hikes which I can't do.)

Volleyball, softball - not very good at those either, but I like to play anyway.

I LOVE listening to music, especially indie rock and world music.

Blogging and basically just being online (I practically LIVE online! But I DO go out and have a social life in real life, with actual face to face contact with people. :biggrin1:)

Travel (although I need to get a steady job first before I can do that again).

I'm actually interested in nearly everything (except for domestic stuff), but I flit from activity to activity...always have. I often go back to activities I've enjoyed before, though.

Rebuilding old motorcycles, collecting Japanese woodblock prints, sailing my Buzzard's Bay 25 (4 sale btw), SCUBA diving, re-finishing old Ottoman furniture.

I also run and swim regularly, but I guess those aren't really hobbies.

Travel. When I was about 16 I set myself a target of visiting every country at least once. But now that's impossible as some no longer exist (at least officially).

I used to ride (horses many years ago, bikes a little more recently until it was stolen), I used to fly but sadly my PPL lapsed a few years back due to inactivity.

This last couple of years I've really been too busy to have time for anything in the hobby realm, except I still travel whenever I can, sometimes I can combine it with business which can be good.

Love my classic cars, I spend quite some time driving, cleaning, ... them.

I also work out after work, it's not really a hobby, I do it for my health.

Love to: read, listen to music, spend time with my friends, cook, go to concerts, go to events related to classic cars ( there are verry few of those events in Belgium), and lets not forget spend time on lpsg

Photography. Which is also my career. I truly love my work. I love to shop-- antiques, new things, whatever. I like "stuff," and I usually end up photographing it. I like travel, but most of the time that somehow fits into the photography category.

I love swimming, especially if I'm with my son. I love taking my son to museums.

I'm an avid reader, and I'm rarely without a book I'm working on reading. I've spent countless sleepless nights finishing entire books because I can't bear to put something down once I've picked it up.

I was a sciece major in college as well as a fine arts major, so science, especially biology and psychiatry, really interest me. Organic chemistry was one of my favorites classes, but I've yet to take a real interest in chemistry outside of the classroom.

Music. I have the most diverse taste in music of anyone I know, and I tend to be rather acquisitive when it comes to music.

Talking to people online, though that's more a survival method than a hobby.

I'm starting to get into model trains and G-scale garden railways. My son is a train freak, and it's renewed the interest of my son. I love gardening and making things, so making a train layout in a garden seems like heaven to me.

I like looking at cool things and making them. I have a 4 year degree in it.

There's a lot more, but that's all I can think of for the moment.

Also debating creationists on science blogs is fun, too.

Fun?!? You're a masochist.

My hobbies have changed over time but for the most part I always enjoy antique shopping,...

Oh and I almost forgot, I LOVE museums especially historic house museums!

Why, why, why did you have to move to Georgia?

Actually, I visited Winterthur over Thanksgiving and was completely underwhelmed. It was crowded, they shunt visitors in tiny hallways and you can't go into any of the rooms. Add to it that that particular period of American decorative arts does absolutely nothing for me.

That was a tangent. Anyway.

Chess has always been my number one hobby - tournament player. Played at master strength for a brief period when I spent more time at it.

Use to be very good at shooting pool. Could walk into a bar and play for drinks and stay on the table unbeaten for a very long time until I would finally lose a game because I had drank too many won drinks.

UFO subject is interesting to me. Not a fanatic or anything, but do like to read up on it.

Enjoy watching women's tennis. Their matches are more interesting to me than the men's since the games tend to take longer and therefore strategy plays a bigger role. Not to mention many of the ladies have great legs. I become bored watching so many men's over-powering serves not being returned.

I have so many, but here are a couple of my favorite hobbies.

International travel - love learning about different cultures, religions, practices, beliefs and histories.

Design - I have a special gift for designing, decorating, staging or creating things. Many friends have requested my services in redecorating or coordinating their homes. I've done it for money, too. I also volunteer to design and stage things for church (plays/dramas, pulpit area, foyer, etc.).

Florist - I dibble in it when I am feeling creative.

***Side note for design and florist: straight men can do this, albeit rare. hush...

Music - I am a singer/vocalist and play the piano. I married a vocalist and an accomplished pianist. She runs rings around me, but we have fun playing around and 'competing.'

Reading - self explanatory.

Children - We are unable to have children and we love children. We both volunteer at shelters, orphanages, schools and church and are constantly working and involving ourselves with activities for children.

Quiet time - I love to meditate and have down time by myself. It helps to clear my mind and keep me focused.

ACC Sports - Go HEELS!!!!

That is enough for now... :)

y most intersting hobbies are: Reading text books Sorry rec3000, but reading textbooks doesn't sound all that interesting. . .:confused::tongue:

I'm an avid reader, and I'm rarely without a book I'm working on reading. I've spent countless sleepless nights finishing entire books because I can't bear to put something down once I've picked it up. I'm like that with a few authors too. I was a science major in college as well as a fine arts major, so science, especially biology and psychiatry, really interest me. What an odd combination, no wonder I like you. :smile:Organic chemistry was one of my favorites classes, but I've yet to take a real interest in chemistry outside of the classroom. I almost completed an MS in Plastics Engineering which has it's base in organic chemistry. Music. I have the most diverse taste in music of anyone I know, and I tend to be rather acquisitive when it comes to music.

Talking to people online, though that's more a survival method than a hobby. I like to call my online life a coping skill.

I'm starting to get into model trains and G-scale garden railways. My son is a train freak, and it's renewed the interest of my son. I love gardening and making things, so making a train layout in a garden seems like heaven to me. Ooo, that sounds sooo cool!

I like looking at cool things and making them. I have a 4 year degree in it. I always think I can make crafty things but end up not doing so, because I have the attention span of a 4 year old. Ooo look there's a ladybug on my desk, I wonder where it came from? So back to the topic my 4 yr. degree is in art history.

Why, why, why did you have to move to Georgia? I had to stop asking myself that question, it was making me depressed. Actually, I visited Winterthur over Thanksgiving and was completely underwhelmed. It was crowded, they shunt visitors in tiny hallways and you can't go into any of the rooms. Add to it that that particular period of American decorative arts does absolutely nothing for me. That was a tangent. Anyway.
I've never been there but I loved San Simeon when I was there and of course the decadent opulence of the summer cottages in Newport. If it's gilded or screams Baroque I will probably love it. :biggrin1:
