Bongermann: Wasn't sure where to put this so please move it and give me a heads up as to where it belongs, thank you :)

Ok, I'm 160, 5' 6'', and I think I'm fat. People who I trust and have no reason not to be honest with me say I'm not. I'm just curious as to what point you consider yourself "fat". Personally I compare myself to those not exactly fit men in porno's, which is fine with me. But I was just wondering your opinion on the matter.

    Thanks.

    IMHO

    Well, there is

    avg
    in shape
    muscular

    then the other direction

    avg
    slightly overweight
    overweight (me)
    extermely overweight
    obese

Just some generic terms a ganked from one of my shallow friends so I can answer this. He feels a person is fat when they reach the extremely overweight level. In my case, I stand 6' and weigh 235#, which centers on my midsection (too much frat, too little jock these days), so my normal weight for my build is around like 205 or something. But visually, I'm not seen as overweight hardly at all.

Anyway, no you're not fat. Maybe stocky, but I've seen thick muscled guys with the same stats too.

Well I sit down and sort of sit down as hard as I can and my belly rolls lol its nothin major just about two or three 'tyres' down there. Now that is fat but overall I'm hardly fat, probably average build, with a little fat on my abdomen (?) I guess thats normal though. And my aunt was sayin why do I have a flat belly and she doesnt...

Anyways I guess you are medically fat when you're weight is more than what it should be for your weight. Course everyone carries fat a bit differently so you could be pretty overweight but not look to fat, particularly if you're already tall and quite naturally built. Like my uncle is 6' or somethin (says he's not even that)...around there, maybe 6'4 and has broad shoulders but is also 15st (~170lb). He doesnt look fat, just has no definition in his chest or body lol.

So there you have it...I wouldnt worry you sound like your height probably carries the fat nicely. There are tall fat people but you only really hear of or know the saying 'short and fat'. Don't worry and if you are worried just do a little exercise ;)

I'm currently 5'11" at 140-145 lbs. My ideal weight would probably be around 155-160lbs, and I wouldn't consider myself fat until I reached 185-190lbs (unless if it would actually be muscle).

Bongermann: Yea, I forgot to mention I have really broad shoulders and am of a "stocky" build, I think thats what it's called. Like how you see wrestlers in movies... But with a lil extra belly fat. Meh, it's only noticeable with my shirt off and me sitting.

My weight fluctuates due to my bi-polar metabolism, but even when it's on the slow side, I'm still not quite average. Then again me being vertically challenged doesn't help either. I wouldnt say I'm totally scrawny, cuz my weight is muscle instead of fat, but i wouldnt say I'm fat until I'm at about 135-145ish (I'm short, so my limits are totally different!) but only if it was all fat. My guess is your fine.

Bongerman, you're only fat when you're uncomfortable with yourself! I'm also about your height/weight and I feel good, 165 lbs at 5'7''. Pay less attention to stats and more attention to health (eat well) and fitness (get a little exercise). If you feel good, you'll look good. Everyone's natural body size is different, so comparing yourself to others is useless. Trying to force your body to be something it's not leads to unwellness on several levels. If you like to eat desert, go for it. If you feel your belly is too big, do some sit ups, but don't obsess about it one way or another.

Yeah, I agree with Zora. It really depends on how you carry it.

I'm 5'10" tall and fluctuate between 135 and 140 pounds. Chart it on a standard "proportionate" height-weight chart and I barely make the "normal" zone. And I've had more than enough of my girl friends comment on my skinniness. Yeah... it was cute the first time. Shut up already. ;)

I was talking about fitness with a friend of mine and I decided that I really don't want to do much anything else with my body other than fill it out some. I like my proportions, and I think having a big ol' messy of long curly hair makes me either look like a Troll doll or balance me out. Either way, I like it fine.

And so should you. Easier said than done? Certainly -- because people can be judgmental and rude and really fuck up the positive energy you set for yourself. At the end of the day, though, you have to look at yourself in the mirror, not them.

No such thing as fat. You're either short for your weight or you're fluffy!!!!

Or, if one would like a more academic sounding response... horizontally gifted! :)

I agree with Zora on this one. Also, I think body frames should be taken into consideration when discussing a person's size. I know people who are tall and weigh a lot, but they are not fat. They do have a large frame and tend to be muscular. I also know shorter people who are above their "ideal weight," but are likewise similar to the above mentions.

As long as you are healthy and eating well you should be fine. I am told often that I need to eat more... I think I eat plenty and that I am healthy. There was a time when I thought I was fat (SIDE BAR - I have never weighed more than 126 pounds) but thankfully someone helped me to rid that misperception. Be comfortable with yourself; once you are then other things will tend to get itself in order.

Well, I'm 5'10", and last I checked, about 210 lbs. That was the winter fat(No, no hibernating!) and I hadn't been working enough for a membership anywhere, tho I could've taken a buddy of mine's offer up on piggy backing to his for a guest tryout.

Basically, my metabolism only needs a kick start to get going. With regards to body types, and if I remember from a bodybuilder friend of mine, there are about three separate body types; ectomorphic, mesomorphic, and metamorphic. I think I fluctuate between meso and ecto.

Doesn't really take much to lose some weight; a little restraint on the no-nos, sweets, fats, etc, a whole helluava lot of water, and no processed foods. Oh and some salads with some nice low fat dressings, grilled skinless chicken breast and some brown rice. Oh, and if you want to go the supplement route, unless you're used to it, I'd advise against anything with caffeine.

    You're fat if...
...you get your ears pierced and gravy comes out.
    ...your blood type is Ragú.
...you stand in front of a microwave and yell, "Hurry!"
...you have a walk-in belly button.
...you stand alone on a street corner and a policeman says, "Beak it up!"
...school children try to board you whenever you wear yellow.
...when I ask you what you want on your hamburger, you answer"a hot dog."
...people take you to McDonald's just to watch the numbers change.
...you have a bumper sticker that reads, "My other car is a refrigerator."

I'm making light of the situation because you don't sound fat to me.

Bongermann: Heh, your replies seem like you think I feel fat... I could care less about my weight, but thanks for the encouraging words... I was mainly just asking opinions. :* :p

In the southern part of the U.S. there are LOTS of fat people (no offense guys!). It has to do with the food in that region I think. Other than that, I think that truly FAT starts when your dick gets shorter because your gut is larger.

My bipolar doesn't seem to affect my metabolism directly. But once I'm all worked up, things tend to move faster in general. Or maybe, mine is doing what yours does.

I'm asking my therapist on Thursday
