I'm a non-versatile top: I haven't been penetrated in years and only under the condition of rape will I ever do so again. I never found any pleasure in it, so I cannot answer your question in that regard.

However, I can tell you that there most definitely is a sensation as the "second sphincter" is being penetrated. No. the 2nd sphincter is an involuntary muscle: it cannot be "pushed" out. You are seeing a dilation of the anus.

Past the second sphincter (or second hole) inside the colon there are a series of valves further up, each of them takes additional deep relaxation to get a cock past. I think the thing that has confused me (and I am presuming most people) is that (assuming my research has lead me to the correct conclusion), there is a 2nd sphincter 6-7 inches up from your visible sphincter, but infact your visible sphincter has both an 'exterior' and 'interior' section (as shown below):

The thing that confused me is that when I tried anal sex for the first time last year, my friend managed to get into my hole, but then about an inch in, he hit a sold wall of muscle.

I did some research and heard about the '2nd sphincter' and assumed that this wall of muscle he was hitting (which he can touch with this index finger mind!) was it! This freaked me out from trying anal sex again, as I thought I must have some freakishly tiny rectum - and knew that past the 2nd sphincter laid the colon, so thought if he ever got through this wall of muscle he could do me considerable damage.

Upon further resarch (and finding the above picture) I am guessing what he is actually hitting is my 'internal sphincter'. As such I think once he gets through this, it's then several inches before he reaches the illustrious '2nd sphincter', and so shouldn't worry (much).

Although I wasn't there (so can't be certain), I'm gonna guess that the "wall of muscle" your friend hit was not the second sphincter but rather that natural bend in the rectum. Due to my penis curving naturally up and rather pronouncedly to the right when full-up (the face-on pic in my gallery is actually only half-up, not full-up), I maneuver through the rectum without much difficulty usually. But I can imagine that someone who has a very straight hard-on perpendicular to his abs might well have an issue, especially if it's done face-to-face and not doggy style (which would tend to straighten the anus). That's my guess.

I have found that the curve in the rectum can resemble a "wall of muscle" when deep fingering or fisting, but never when fucking. The second thing is that I have never encountered a second sphincter so tightly closed as to present an insurmountable barrier to balls-deep penetration. The only problem I encounter with edging is plateauing, which happens a lot.
