For me, it's Muse hands down

Okay to be honest I was thinking more nostalgically with my vote for The Jam and not present day - yes, by all means Devon spawned power trio MUSE are simply amazing and judging from various interviews, nice lads too boot. I'll be diplomatic and call it a tie in my personal faves book.

1. JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE

2. CREAM

3. NIRVANA

4. RUSH

5. GREENDAY

6. MOTORHEAD

7. THE POLICE

8. SOMEONE ELSE

this is a good argument to have! all of those bands are great in there own way!
I would have to say Cream. Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker. The best drummer next too Keith Moon of The Who.

I'm close to saying The Jam too but I'd also like to nominate Yo La Tengo. surely they get bonus points for looking like a trio of librarians and still being able to rock?

Hell I don't know. Rush, ELP (through Brain Salad Surgery), Cream, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Quatermass, and T2 (the prog-rock band, not the electronic musician) are all 3-pieces that I love. But if I had to pick, I think I'll go with Rush.
