You beat me to the punch and despite loving some of the trios in the original list I have to say that the line up of WELLER, FOXTON and BUCKLER still remain my personal favorite.

Rush or Muse - I'm torn. Trapeze were good but probably less well known.

Okay to be honest I was thinking more nostalgically with my vote for The Jam and not present day - yes, by all means Devon spawned power trio MUSE are simply amazing and judging from various interviews, nice lads too boot. I'll be diplomatic and call it a tie in my personal faves book.

I would have to say Cream. Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker. The best drummer next too Keith Moon of The Who.

YouTube - Cream- Sunshine of Your Love

I'm close to saying The Jam too but I'd also like to nominate Yo La Tengo. surely they get bonus points for looking like a trio of librarians and still being able to rock?

Credit to the other guys, but Jimi was the one who carried them through.

My choice would have to be THE DOORS

Ahh, let's see... 1). vocalist Jim Morrison, 2). keyboardist Ray Manzarek, 3).drummer John Densmore, and 4). guitarist Robby Krieger. Not quite a trio mate!

Hell I don't know. Rush, ELP (through Brain Salad Surgery), Cream, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Quatermass, and T2 (the prog-rock band, not the electronic musician) are all 3-pieces that I love. But if I had to pick, I think I'll go with Rush.
