While something might be overly diagnosed it doesn't mean the disorder does not exist. I would trust a psychiatrist's view over yours. You have an opinion based on your own worries. People who feel they are too good and flawless to have a disorder are often the ones with the issues compared to everyone around them.

You don't have to listen to me or anyone else's opinion you don't like. At the end of the day you are the one living a life of a 26 year old virgin. Absolutely no skin off my back if you think I am wrong.

Some of the trademarks of individuals who fall online the lines of the autistic spectrum disorder, including aspegers, include obsessions with patterns, limited fixtions, odd physical mannerisms (rocking, flapping hands etc.).

Asperger syndrome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't have any of those issues, I have a large variety of interests and with the exception of health and fitness seem to have a long pattern of having my having my hobbies and activities change very often.

I'm aware of Autism, I studied Psychology at undergraduate level for a couple of years before becoming frustrated with it like the OP. I've also lived next door to someone with Aspergers for 11 years - I only found out they were Aspie last year. The only thing that gave me an inkling when I thought back about it was their difficulty relating to others. There seemed to be semi-frequent events where either they would be offended or someone else would be offended by something they had said. Unless the other person was incredibly easy going and basically unoffendable there was an inability to 'click'. There was nothing particularly overt though. What you quoted is right - it is a spectrum.

TG has said she and her child have Aspergers, yet she is incredibly articulate and sociable on here from what I've seen, and I have not seen anybody else attaching a negative connotation to it, merely offering a possible explanation for your difficulties relating and socialising - which you keep putting in the public domain. You are the one saying there is something wrong with people who have Aspergers, nobody else. Frankly, you would be more relatable if you did have it.

I never said those disorders did not exist, but you need to take into consideration the context of how these disorders are so readily thrown out to label young children.

The.pharmaceutical companies pay for my expensive medications because I am uninsured. They cover what would be thousands of dollars a month. Why would a pharmaceutical company pay for someone else's meds if their only goal is profits?

That's a whoooooole other discussion, but my *personal* opinion is that they are speculating to accumulate. They have a vested interest in keeping the population medicated.

I have tried many meds that did not work and finally found a unique combo that does. I'm sticking with what works for me. I am very fortunate to get the help I need free of charge.

Anyway, we have completely slaughtered this thread. We should start a new one.

I truly believe that autism, bi polar and add/adhd are ridiculously over diagnosed in our country. When I was in the 8th grade I had moved to a new school and I wasn't too keen on doing my work and some retard psychiatrist wanted to put me on riddalin, spelling is probably off, because I had "ADHD" lmfao.

Yep, tons of kids are diagnosed in error! Fact.

AE, eeryone is quirky in some way. Some quirks can indicate a disorder. When someone's life to be continually thrown off the rails by their behavior, it might not be a bad idea to see if it might be something that can be identified and the person get the proper help.

The sentence I isolated, in context had nothing to do with what you just wrote . You originally wrote that most people have a personality disorder. No, no most people do not. That it is a deviation is part of what makes disordered behaviors disorders. We are not merely talking about weird quirks. Nobody treats or medicated or even diagnoses quirks. You're backpedalling. It's okay to be wrong. It's okay that you're parroting a doctor who was wrong. Wrong happens.
