I have so many childhood memories, just can't recall which came first in order. That's too much baggage to carry, it was purged from the memory banks for more important long term memories that are more applicable for my day to day and even future.

My earliest memory is watching my Mother and father and friends dancing to Bossa Nova music in my aunts living room. I remember lying on my stomach in the living room listening to Winnie the Poo records while drawing pictures . I also remember "Cooking" up an unholy stink on my radiator by my bed consisting of crayons, finger paint and popcorn from the circus...

How are you weirdos pin-pointing such things lol? I have a plethora of earliest memories, but I can't recall how old I was or which one was earlier, lol.

Earliest memories....

This has been the source of much kidding in my family because my brothers and sister don't believe I could possibly remember.

One of my first memories was waking up in the middle of the night crying in my crib and my father picking me up, putting my head on his shoulder and singing to me to get me back to sleep.

Another one....

We were one of the first in our family and in the neighbourhood to have TV. I can remember a house full of people with all our chairs lined-up in front of the TV so everyone could watch the coronation of Queen Elizabeth which I think was in 1953 which would make me about 2

i think the earliest i can remember was when i fell out of bed and i cried silently, not calling out for help or anything, until i was discovered on the floor maybe 10-30 minutes later... i may be 3 years old when this happened, but i'm not sure...

the same thing happened to me when i was a few months old (so i don't know this happened at all), i fell from the crib (i dunno how that was possible) and i even broke my arm... i was only told about this by my mom and sister..

i was an accident prone baby.. :(

I remember being in a crib beside a window and somebody, maybe my mum, bringing a baby into the room. They put my brother in the crib with me and lifted me out. I was two years old. After that I had a bed across the room with a sideboard to keep me from rolling out. I remember climbing into the crib to play.

I have a lot of memories of general activities that I used to take part in back then. Some things I honestly can't distinguish if they were dreams or reality though. The earliest specific memory I can think of is getting chased by bees. They had built a nest in the side of a hill (Yeh, they live in hillsides as well as hives. Who knew? Not me, at that age.) and my neighbor challenged me to a game to see who could throw a rock into the hole first. I went first, and while I didn't hit the hole, I did hit close enough to disturb the nest. A small swarm chased me all the way to the door, and five of them stung me in almost exactly the same spot on the palm of my hand.
She definitely wasn't smart enough to have had the foresight to have intentions as malicious as the results, but it was still a rotten thing to do.

I actually have memories from when I was <1 year old; I asked my mom about these, and she asked me "How did you even remember that??"

I remember my mom putting the skin of a lemon in her mouth, so that they were covering her teeth. She smiled, and this looked wrong to me so I freaked out. When I saw her and my brother laughing, I kept doing it because they seemed to think it was funny. According to my mom, I was less than 6 months old.

I have a few others, but they're a little hazy compared to this one. I just know that I remember everything from the time I was a year old, while most people can only remember back to when they were 3.

My earliest memory was when i was 2 and we were at the Drive-In movies with the family watching ET, it was a little chilly outside so we packed yellow blankets. It was the few times my Grandma was with us somewhere.

I also remember the red carpet in our first church, mom said i was under a year old. But i distinctly remember the stage set up and the carpet. There's a ton of things i cant remember from a year ago strangely.

And yet to me ET seems like but yesterday.

My earliest memory apparently was sometime before I was 1 year 7 months 7 days old standing next to a sister next to a piano at it.

~4 is when I can recall things with details, like a room with all it's furnitures flowers etc. Small details like sitting in our car on our way to my grandparents while eating an ice cream were a lot earlier.

mine was from about the time I was about 18 months old. My mom had a humidifier in my room because I had a cold. I remember climbing out of the crib and being curious about the steam. I picked it up and scalded a spot on my chest. I remember the yellow and white pj's I was wearing that stuck to the burn and crying as mom was peeling it back.

I actually was really lucky it was one tiny spot and not a lot of permanent damage done. But I even remember the asbestos round pad she used underneath the humidifier.

It took several weeks for the burn to heal. Believe me, I learned to stay away from hot things and about steam after that night

What is your earliest childhood memory?

I was in chat at about 3:00 AM today when conversation started to lag and someone asked, “What was your earliest childhood memory?” I knew mine right off.

Mine is of a Sunday morning in 1969, I was about 3 years old. I wouldn’t finish my breakfast and we were going to be late for church. At that time we were attending my father’s family’s church; in Red Bank. It was a 40 minute drive and services were in the 2-3 hour range.

My mom always packed a bottle for me in her purse to calm me when I got fidgety mid-service. Well she told me if I did not finish my breakfast she would not only, not bring a bottle to church, she would throw them all out. I did not finish my breakfast. She did not bring a bottle with her; and I screamed and cried so much in church, we had to leave. I was unconsolable.

After that I decided that I would no longer drink milk unless it was served in a bottle. My mother is a woman of her word and all bottles had been thrown out. She took me to the doctor afraid my little body would shrivel up and die. The doctor said, “Give her chocolate, or strawberry milk, or maybe Ovaltine.” Nestlé’s Quik did the trick! I have not consumed a glass of white milk since that Sunday 38 years ago. So that is not only my earliest memory, but I think the first argument, I ever had with my mom J

I called her this morning to ask if she remembered that day. She did. Mom and I often remember things differently. But on this we were quite clear. Our memories of that day are identical. We laughed about it.

Side Note: The problem wasn’t as much the bottle as it was the fact I was so tall for my age. Mom has always been concerned about appearances. Also, my mom was a tad concerned I’d go to kindergarten in 2 years bottle packed in book bag. Apparently she had been trying to wean me from the bottle for over a year. She had stopped the 3:00 AM feedings . . . but my dad didn’t because he couldn’t stand to hear me cry in the middle of the night. Yes, at 3 years of age I was still drinking from a bottle and getting one in the middle of the night as well. Though I ate all manner of table food, all beverages had to be served in a bottle or I wouldn’t drink. Okay, so maybe I'm a little bit spoiled. :biggrin1: Do you think this is the start of me being high maintenance?

So, what is your earliest childhood memory?
