What is your favorite kind of Pie?

I've been baking a pecan chocolate whiskey pie for years. Then I found out it's called a Derby Pie and served at the Kentucky Derby. But for a couple of years now, I've been doing a 'Mystery Pie'. It's got a cream cheese base almost like a cheese cake with a pecan pie upper level. It's wonderful.

A Gravenstein Apple pie is the closest any of you will ever get to heaven on earth. There is nothing like it anywhere but Sonoma County California where they are grown.

I've heard of it. I don't think it's made with cheddar cheese, people just like to melt a slice of cheddar on top of it.

Chocolate pecan Pie
2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
3 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup dark Caro syrup
5 tbl melted butter
1 tsp dark rum
1/2 stp salt
3 oz dark chocolate
Toast nuts in the oven for 10 minutes at 375
Warm the pie crust in the oven until hot(see my previous post)
Wisk all the ingredients except nuts and chocolate
Add nuts and chocolate
Bake for 35 minutes in 375 oven or until crust is golden brown and edges are firm and the center seems set but quivery.Let cool on rack for at least 1 1/2 hour.
Just took this out of the oven!

Though I miss a good Pecan pie. Only really get those in the US South...or a House of Pies! Australia doesn't do sweet pies very well...sorry, but we don't.

Just like the OP, I am a sucker for Key Lime and Pecan which would be my pies of choice. However I do like blueberry and apple as well.

I am a pie guy...as opposed to those who dream of cake. My best buddy in college said he didn't like any pie...turns out he had only ever had a pie from a box or dining out place. So I made him a pie and he almost ate the entire thing. I then would make a new flavor every month and he would just die. Like it was a new world. I like pie to be on the tart side whatever the fruit. Some pies I don't want baked (peach and strawberry MUST be fresh). I make a killer apple pie. Before you seal the top crust place some rasberries on the top. The cut piece will look beautiful and taste a perfect balance of tart and sweet. Oh I fucking hate any nuts in a pie...whatever the flavor. I do like to make a persons favorite pie for them out of the blue. From me it is giving true love. For store bought pie i would go with Marie Calanders coconut cream pie...it is fabu. Man, I just love the pie.

Checkers has good fired apple pies as does Popeye's Chicken. I think they both use cinnamon sugar to coat them.
