Mine seems to vary from partner to partner and is somewhat dependent upon whether the bed is against the wall. I need the away from the wall spot because I get claustrophobic if I'm trapped next to the wall.
My first two boyfriends - Away from the wall.
A now-ex FB I used to share with often - Against the wall. His need to reach the bong and control my beg hogging came before my claustrophobia. I survived.
Third partner - Bed wasn't against the wall. I slept on the right.
Sir - On the left (although I hadn't realised until this thread made me stop and think about it that we'd fallen into a pattern).
Oh, and when I'm alone, I sleep diagonally so as not to kick the cat in my sleep!
*inhales deeply...nico answer imminent*
Ok so looking from the foot of the bed, i currently sleep on the left hand side when i am alone and it is my bed in my current room.
Now if I have noticed, on those times I was on vomit duty when my nephew was a wee tyke, that I slept on the right side of the spare bed in the room, if he was on the other. If he fell asleep on the one though and I was on the one he at the time slept on, then I was back to being on the left side. (two beds in the room and when he was young he used to choke on his vomit if he was sick. the baby monitors did not always catch the sounds, so we adults would sleep in shifts in the spare bed in his room) So in that case it was to the side that was closet to the middle of the room in order to be closer to the other bed.
With my first BF, Ron, I slept on the left side of the bed, but that was because he had to sleep next to the wall, lest he fall off the bed.
With Dixon i slept on whatever side was convenient, usually the side farthest form the door, though this was because he would get up for a smoke break in the middle of the night and needed to be closer to the exit.
Everyone else has been pretty much whichever side they didn't sleep on.
With L, i sleep on the left if we are at his place. That is because, in an effort to control my bed hogging (much like subgirrl, hence why I quoted her) we have discovered that if i am against the wall, he gets to remain in the bed, lol Otherwise this happens: I cuddle into him and push a bit. He is all lulled my the cuddle and moves to give me room s I am pushing him away even as I snuggle up next to him. This continues until he is on the floor and I am horizontal on the bed:redface:
By placing my against a wall and facing me in that direction (which is fine by me as he then spoons around me ad I feel all secure and safe ensconced in his embrace) i tend to push against the unyilding wall, and he gets to remain on the bed.
When we are at a hotel, I sleep on the side closest to the wall, whichever side that is. We usually get two beds...which is just nicer overall. We say one will be the fuck bed and the other the sleep bed, though really the both get fucked on, but then the other can have a chance to dry out or be changed. Seriously nothing is worse than trying to sleep in a bed that is soaked with sweat, spooge and lube. *shudders*
So one of those is usually by a half wall, closest to the bathroom. If we are on the other one, closest to the balcony, I sleep on the opposite side and as there is no wall, he runs the risk of being edged off again, lol I am getting better. And it only took over three years!
Oh if I am alone, and my cat is on the bed, i sleep on the left, on the diagonal. Head left side, feet right, in deference to Bob's insistence on sleeping in the middle.
