Hamburger, chicken tenders, boneless-skinless chicken thighs, various vitamin supplements, cat litter and chocolate-chocolate chip muffins.

I don't belong to any of those clubs. I've been to BJ's a few times and it's kind of dumpy and depressing. I didn't find the bargains all that great either. I suppose if you have a really big family and wanted to buy large quantities it would be okay. I know a few people who are members, but only go for Halloween candy and a few Christmas presents.

I didn't see any great deal on electronics or anything for that matter. There were some books that were priced good, but the variety wasn't there.

I saw a news report on those clubs, and the people they interviewed were saying they over buy on the food because it's impulse buying, but it usually goes bad.

I wouldn't be caught dead in Sam's Club or WalMart.

Why don't you like Wal-Mart? I'm in there once or twice a week. The Super Centers are awesome.

Shopping at warehouse stores also ultimately limits choice. These stores only stock what they think will sell big and not other items that may not be the "season's hit." Walmart stated that they want to put Toys R Us out of business for example. You can get every Barbie at TRU and the season's seller at Walmart. Just a thought, but I don't want one company controlling what merchandise I can find, sans ebay.
Good Point!

I purchase meats and snacks for my kids lunches in bulk. Buying in bulk does not have to mean that things go bad. I bring home the large packages and re-package them (chicken and fish, for instance) using freezer bags. In this way, you can save money and shop wisely. Shopping (for anything) does take discipline.

For the record, I formed my opinion on WalMart after visiting several over a number of years--in rural, suburban and urban settings. I generally find the atmosphere and layout of the store to be cluttered, claustrophobic and unappealing. When I have gone to one, I have rarely purchased anything as the store experience did not appeal to me (or disgusted me).

I'll admit the the nicer WalMarts that I have seen have all been in the more rural areas around the country, as if the company makes a better store where people have fewer choices?

Really? Am I?

Um, yeah.

lol. I went to both Walmart and Sam's today. I admit, I really don't like to go to Walmart because it is usually a cluttered mess and there are way too many people and screaming kids running around. Sam's is much nicer, not just anyone can go in there and run around like a whacko... I don't think I saw even one child while I was there. I love Sam's.... :)

Oooh. When I was a nanny in Florida, the family I lived with/worked for loved them, but they came in a bag. They were okay, but I'm not much of a salmon fan.

I have memberships to both Sam's Club and Costco. (My parents provide me with and renew my Sam's Club card every year.....they have a business membership and they provide me with a card.....so I am not going to turn it down....) I purchase my own Costco membership. For the most part I use my Costco membership more. My husband likes the food selection better....It seems a little more gourmet and they seem to have more selection on easy to prepare entrees. Anything that makes my life easier when it comes to meal planning is the way I like it. Costco has a really nice wine selection....I like Berringer White Zinfedale and you get 2 large glass bottles for like $8. I purchase kiddie cereal at Costco and Sam's. Whatever selection they have. Toilet Paper, Shampoo.....One family size bottle of shampoo at Costco and Sam's is the same price as a smaller bottle of shampoo at Wal-mart and the grocery stores.

I think Sam's has a better selection of snack type foods for the kids. Or that is what I found when I had to do a week's worth of snacks for my son's Kindergarten class. I even purchased my ziplock baggies that I repackaged everything in.....And I probably have a couple of years worth of ziplock baggies. Snack size and Sandwich size. But they sure as heck come in handy when ya have kids. Throw some wet wipes in a zip lock bag and you are good to go.

Photo services are good at both places (cheap). My sister-in-law does all her pics through Costco because you can send the pics online and it doesn't cost anything extra.....I think that is what she said.

I like to look at all the books and clothes and knick nacks and seasonal stuff at both stores.
