I'm poor, so it's only $200. In past years it has been as much as $700-$900.

Oh how the mighty have fallen!

$200 is good if you're buying for 1 or 2 people. I don't know how much I've spent so far, but I have 9 people total that I'm buying for. Some are couples, so it will be one gift for the two of them , and I spend more on couples. I also gave to a few charities, and of course the damn Salvation Army bell ringers have gotten a buck here and there.

I forgot about the paperboy and the mailman, so it's a total of 11.

I had 5 people to buy for plus a pollyana gift for extended family.

It's been a tough year personally, my fella developed a mental illness, my Dad found out he had cancer in July, I've spent most of the year running in ever decreasing circles trying to alleviate the pressure on the family business, to ease the burden on my Mum, to take care and financially support my partner, I feel really worn out and I'll be kissing the arse of 2008, and kicking the arse of '07.

Therefore I went absolutely totally intercontinental xmas shop ballistic and have spent (so far) around £700 (I think about $1400), a hefty chunk of my savings.

Next year, is definitely going to be a better year for me, so I'm celebrating early and splashing out on some beautiful gifts for Mum and Dad, my fella and family.

Wow! I wish I had your budget Rob!
Wanna share?
cigarbabe:saevil:

Well, bear in mind that of the dinner expenses, anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of that is spent on myself (since I usually have dinners with friends 1 on 1, so I'm eating and drinking roughly half of the bill), and for the party expenses, that's the cost of "hostess gifts" (wine, usually) or rounds of drinks for parties held in bars. So it looks like a lot more than it actually is, when you consider I'm eating and drinking at someone else's expense at the parties and people are buying me rounds of drinks at the bars, too.

LOL!!!!

I kept the video link.
My budget is changing each week.." Because I get paid each week. So, I can say..."
$44.99 Hubby's gift.
$14.99 shirt for a guy at work for secret santa..
$6.00 for a cat dangle for a girl at work b-day/ dec gift.
$18.84 for Calenders of Hawaii. ( they were 88 cents each...)
$5.00 for the small gifts for hubby and a shipmate.

Like I said before.." I use the money I work for to Pay MORE important things for my family.." So, I don't have MUCH left when I am done with that matter..."
But, I sure CAN'T wait for the SALES!!!!!!!:biggrin1:

Yes, I'm bored and I couldn't find anything newsworthy to post so I am bumping old, yet seasonally appropriate threads.

Besides which, I am curious if the stock market crash has had an adverse effect on holiday spending in the USA.

I don't have one per se, but I don't think I will be spending more than $500. I do have to start shopping later today. The bad thing is that I don't know what to get a few people on my list.

My Christmas budget is the same this year. The only difference is that I have the added travel expense to go back home.

I'm up to 4700$ this year.

I blame the two computers...

Oh wait, are we talking about gifts for OTHERS?:cool:

**All joking aside, I'll probably spend up to 200$/person in my family, and then roughly 30-50$/person that I'm close friends with**

I don't even want to know what has been spent this year for Christmas. I look under the tree and I don't see the bottom of it... I barely see anything around the tree other than the massive amounts of gifts. One would think Santa lived here and his elfs set-up camp before the Christmas Eve delivery.

Why must we buy something for everyone?????
