Here too. I also go in for Flamenco guitar classics as well as the "Noveau Flamenco" genre.

Well, as I understand it, there are but two kinds of music:

1. Music that is good.

2. The rest (which, given the proper circumstances,
COULD be good). ;)

erc19: I am still quite young, and rap actually helped me as an outlet while watching my sister going through the very tramatic, long bout with a very rare form of brain cancer that she had. Regardless of what people say (not all of it), it really did help me not to lash out at anyone to badly at anyone, and actually kept me as sane as I could've been through those troubling years. While I listen to rap, I also enjoy rock, soft rock, and oldies.

gigantikok: Just found new appriciate (and guilty pleasure) for the Beach Boys. Many, who couldn't love their harmless brand of tuneful pop? ::)

rikter8: Im a Techno freak.

I love dance music.

Ministry of Sound is my Friend. They remix some of the best stuff, and of course, attending gay clubs - I always got an edge on the hot stuff thats coming out.

80's is good too, but its gotta have a good beat, good vocals and make sense.

Country I like as well, but please no Twang!

I dispise rap. Have no use for it.

7x6andchg: Well, despite the avatar...country isn't the only music I like. It really depends on what I'm in the mood for...but...

* I like country - but I'm with rikter8 on this - the less twang in the voice the better...leave the twanging to the steel guitars.

*I like 80s and 90s music...reminds me of my childhood and young adulthood. SIGH.

* I like classical - specifically Baroque, Vivaldi among others.

* I still love oldies - 50's, 60's....there's something so innocent and joyful about most of it. Except for the "gooey teenage death songs" like Leader of The Pack.

* Dance music of all types - current Top 40 stuff, as well as remixes. I enjoy cutting a rug. So much so that I'm going to need new carpet here in the house soon. :D

Inwood: I like something from just about everything.

But since I have over three hundred C/W CDs (anyone want to buy them?) I guess that's what I like best. Especially Dwight Yoakam and Carlene Carter. (Well yes and Patsy too but I figure that's practically a given if you like C/W).

Also Led Zeppelin, Glen Miller, Billy Idol, Annie Lennox, Robert Palmer, Grace Jones, you might see a pattern developing here (except for Glen Miller) and so many more.

prepstudinsc: My musical tastes run the gamut from Classical to top 40, 80's music, and Gospel. Pretty eclectic I would say....

fourdeg420: Music is my life, I play bass and I am studying to be a recording engineer (turning knobs, pressing buttons). I will listen to anything. I don't like all punk but it's less because of the music and more because of the production value. Guitars are meant to be distorted not the final mix.
Favorites by genre:
Rock: Tool (the best band ever in my opinion)
Jazz: Miles Davis and Carlie Parker, improvisational jazz gets me wet.
Classical: Vivaldi
Rap: Kool Keith
Alternative: Sonic Youth
Punk: Black Flag (w/ Hank), Agnostic Front
Country: Hank Williams, Johnny Cash
Other: Manu Chao

Inwood: Well 7x6+C...

I'm not sure if that's intended to be an insult or not. The trend with my choice of singers is that they all tend to have a throaty voice (at least to my ears). Plus I haven't listened to the top 40 stations in about 13 years (since I moved to New York) so I don't know much about current music trends. Every now and then I hear examples of what's being played. From Rap to whatever I've heard things I like. But mostly I like silence. I prefer quiet when home even though I have a 300 watt professional system that would blow my neighbors out of their apartments. But when it comes down to it I just like country music the best. I think some of the songs (what I listen to anyway) tends to address concerns and situations we all have to deal with and that makes them relevant to my life.

Anyway thanks for the chain yank.

7x6andchg: Not meant to be an insult at all, Inwood...it seemed to me that your tastes noted were more in the 80s and earlier range...which is (I blanche as I say this) becoming "classic rock", at least on KQRS here in Mpls.

No offense intended. Hopefully none taken.
