It’s So Cold…

Richard Simmons wearing shorts that come nearly to the half-thigh region.

Lawyers have their hands in their own pockets.

You have to break the smoke off your chimney

You have to open the fridge to heat the house

Your false teeth chatter, and they are still in the glass

Police tell a robber to freeze, and he does

Our words froze in midair and we had to put them in a frying pan to thaw them so we hear what we were talking about.

People look forward to getting a fever

Mailmen watch out for both dogs and polar bears

I’m shivering like a mobster in a tax office.

You can blame tradition and toilet paper for that.

Toilet paper, as recounted earlier in these pages (see the bonus fact at that link), was first produced commercially in the United States in 1857. While it was well-received nearly immediately, the idea of paying for an item to do that job wasn't all that popular. For decades, many outhouse-goers (and pardon the double entendre there) opted against forking over their hard-earned cash in order to purchase paper designed for your bum.
Instead, they'd use the paper they already had. The Old Farmer's Almanac worked beautifully for this. First, it already had a hole punched through it -- the publisher wanted it to be hung in a place where it would be easily accessible (and not get lost). So it was easy to hang in the outhouse. And second, yesterday's weather report isn't all that valuable anyway, so why not tear it out of the book and get yourself clean? It was a win-win.

I saw someone trying to sell a used kid potty on FB earlier. You can see that it was obviously recently used. Hella nasty, at least wipe it down first.

Bunny Tale

A man looks out the window into his back yard and sees his dog shaking and tossing something into the air. He rushed out to find that it was the neighbors' rabbit, Mr. Bun Bun, and he was very dead.
The man decided that he could not possibly explain to his neighbors how his dog had gotten into their yard and broke into the rabbit cage and killed Mr. Bun Bun while they were away.
He bathed Mr. Bun Bun until completely clean and dry, placed him back in his cage, re-latched the door and hoped they would believe that their rabbit had passed away peacefully.
Several days later, the man notices his neighbor mowing his lawn, so he walks over and asks how things were going.
"Well" the neighbor says, "not so well. We lost Mr. Bun Bun last week, and we are all still very upset about it all."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that."
"Yes, we found him one day when we got home, and he must have died in his sleep because he looked so peaceful."
(Whew!) "Well, that does not sound too bad."
"Oh no, and we were not surprised: I mean he was very old, and had really started to show his age the last few months."
"I guess I am a bit confused then, as to why your family is still upset."
"Well, we buried the little guy out by the back fence and thought we were all done with it, but you are not going to believe this: Someone dug him up, cleaned him up and put his body back into his cage as some form of mean and nasty practical joke."
