It's no surprise that nudity is everywhere these days, but the balance between male and female nudity has remained improper since forever. What tropes, trends and questions do you have about nudity in general? I want to limit this discussion to just television, movies and photographs since they are the main sources for skin in today's society. I asked this question on another forum and got a lot of interesting responses. The following are just a few gripes and questions I have towards the state of male exposure, especially when compared to their female counterparts. I'm sure that this will get lots of people talking!

Here are some (but not every) notable tropes about male nudity that I have come up with:

- There's almost more female nudity than male;
- A woman's breast can be shown unobstructed without hesitation, but a man can't show his dick (thought a woman's vagina is rarely shown either). I don't understand why the boob is seen as natural if straight men get titillated by their appearance;
- Older actors (over 50) are more comfortable at full frontal nudity than their younger counterparts;
- Likewise, older men are more willing to bare everything in any scene set at a nudist camp - one of few exceptions to this is Benjamin Heinrich going all the way in Pastewka;
- The severe lack of CFNM scenes in today's film and TV world. Andy Sandoval's excellent scene in Euphoria is a massive exception!
- Unnecessary coverage of male genatalia, whether through conveniently placed objects (CGI is the worst case of this) or just as bad, over the top pixelling where there really shouldn't be. America should be ashamed...
- Um, what's the point of wearing a cock sock if the cock isn't meant to be shown on screen? Remember when actors literally went au naturel all those years ago?
- Similarly, why do men wear prosthetics, particularly ones that look unrealistic as s**t?
- Why won't all hot men show everything? Have they seen what gets posted on social media today?
- Also, why won't these people go all the way unless they are specifically given a role that is seen as "serious" or if the role requires them to appear every bit as hideous as possible? I remember Zac Efron saying he'd go full frontal if the role asks for it or if he was nominated or something;
- Then again, when a very hot actor does get naked, why do they only show their ass? And why is the scene in question always shot in near darkness?
- Almost every time an actor shows a rear or a frontal and you don't see their face or at the very least anything notable on the actor's body that makes him easily identifiable (such as a distinctive mark or tattoos). What are the odds that the nudity was done by a body double? Almost every f***ing time this is the case!
- Why can't erections be shown? Don't say it's sexually arousing or it's too uncomfortable, especially given how much female nudity is shown free of censoring!
- This is one I'm sure a lot of people will agree on: how annoying is it when social media makes a big deal over a major actor getting naked, when we viewers are expecting something amazing (such as full frontal or even a decent rear scene) but in the end all we get is just side nudity or worse, an upper torso shot only?

Please leave comments and provided photographic or video evidence if you like. Thank You!

That trope is limited to American television and films. From my understanding, Canadian and European actors are more relaxed.

For example, the Canadian show “Sex and Violence” has plenty of frontals from hot actors in their 20s-40s. And they are mostly clearly lit and last a good while.

Our culture has gotten more prudish than it was in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

I think it's actually unfair to say men don't show full frontal nudity as much as women who go naked in film. Can someone name a notable example of a woman clearly showing her vagina/labia without pubic hair hiding it? I'm an American and can only speak of American films and TV of which I'm familiar. But men going full frontal are actually baring all, and not the women who show only bush. People even complain women always show their boobs, why can't an actor show his dick. Showing boobs is not the same level as a guy showing genitals. Women say men are sexualizing them to want to see female nudity, so wouldn't women then be guilty of doing the same? Most nudity is for shock factor to get media buzz. I've never seen Euphoria, but the only thing I ever hear about it is that they actively work to show as many dicks as possible as if that somehow elevates their show in making nudity balanced. Women don't want to be sexualized on tv and in movies by going naked, so don't do the same to men. Plus, in real life away from what the media tells us we need, no normal woman is sitting there thinking I wish they would show some dicks in this show/movie. When a random dick flash happens, females I knew/know would say things like so unncessary, or eww don't need to see a peen flopping around.

That’s actually cool that you see unfairness in the full frontal nudity. Many people don’t see it.
I feel like males don‘t have anything equal to boobs to show in return, so their penises are the only option. For women to show their vaginas would be difficult, since casual nudity would rarely include them bending over to show their genitalia, even accidentally, while guys literally don’t nred to do anything to flop their dIckes and balls around.
However, we have to be ready for the unfair full nudity tendency to continue, or even become more popular.
