I have shit gaydar. Unless the guy was on his knees sucking a dick I would't know if he was straight or gay.

OBVIOUSLY there are some instances when they are obviously gay. But then again I have been SO WRONG in the past about that before.

So I tend not to come to a conclusion until they have told me thereselves.

Oh, man ... that's me. My gaydar has never worked, I think I need a firmware upgrade or something ... I was a guest at a gay wedding once and I had two guys who were sitting at the same table as me pegged as gay only to find later in the day that one of them was married (to a woman), and she joined us at the table.

When I hear the gay lisp I automatically think the guy is gay or bi....and the sashay walk...just the typical stereotypes I guess.

I've only seen one guy in my life so far that was straight-acting and he was the boyfriend of a former co-worker, the co-worker on the other hand - gay lisp, lol!

Apart from the obvious effeminate mannerisms and speech, being overly well groomed, being overly polite or animated, never mentioning women or sports in conversations, or a kind of uncomfortable awkward forced masculinity like Tom Cruise or George Michael (when he was a star).

Guys where my gaydar failed miserably - Anderson Cooper, Gareth Thomas, Robert Reed (Mr. Brady), Barney Frank.

Dunno exactly what, but I guess it is a bit of instinct.

Let me tell you a story. A few years ago I was on a business trip through the USA and normally I do not mix pleasure with work but on this occasion I did. I was flying from Houston to up state New York in winter and a storm was blowing through the NE with airports opening and closing faster than a whore's legs on a Saturday night. At Houston my flights changed several times while they attempted to sort out my connections (at one time I had actually boarded when they pulled me off and out my on another plane).

I changed flights at 'somewhere' Philly?, Pittsburg?. I had couple of hours to kill so went to the cafe/bar. Pretty busy but in front of me was the absolutely gorgeous guy, bit chunky, crophead, not too tall. Exactly my type. He sat down at the only vacant table so what was more natural than for me to ask if I could share with him. Dolly bird came over and we ordered (separately) beers. When she brought them back they were both on the same tab, so of course I paid for both (I was on company expenses).

We got chatting (my intention all along) and it turned out he was an engineer in US Navy and going home on a bit of leave. We got on quite well and had another beer.

When my flight was called to this tin pot town he also got up - we were both going to the same place. On the plane we sat together and I think both of our's Gaydars' were in overtime. I never made it to my hotel that night... And it was as good as I had anticipated.

Kept in touch for a few years afterwards.
