For years people have been sneaking into the United States... most are not inherently dangerous however they fly under the radar and there is a lot of problems when you have millions of people in your country without documentation.

Recently the left wingers have started encouraging 10’s possibly 100’s of thousand of people from other countries to come here and “seek asylum” because of trivial reasons like they are poor (yet liberals constantly talk about how poor America is sans the top 10% of earners), they live in a dangerous area (there are shooting weekly within a mile of my place of employment), or they are escaping domestic violence (yeah we have no issues with that here)... advocates want these folks to be given citizenship and all its benefits just for coming here. This is a huge expense to taxpayers. Most of these folks have no skills and can’t speak English so we will be paying for their food, housing, healthcare and education for the foreseeable future.

To me asylum should only be given to those who are singled out for something and their life is in danger. For example if someone testified against a drug dealer or human traffickers and they aren’t being properly protected by local law enforcement, a family with an albino child from a country where they could be killed because of an old superstition, or the Yadizi in Iraq who are tortured, raped and murdered for sport.

In a nutshell you described the rules already in place for asylum. However this administration is ignoring them. I have no issue deporting people who are here illegally, but that is not what is happening. People are being abused by the system and innocents are being killed when deported because their lives really were in danger. Being poor is not a reason for asylum, but the threats many of these people suffer are real and often caused by the US. Trump has cut nearly all the money that had been budgeted to help keep people in their home countries and the situation there has gotten worse.

Most of the people he came to America were the poor thowaways and rabble that Europe and GB did not want. Believe me, England could not ship people from their prisons here fast enough. The whole state of Georgia was a penal colony (hasn't changed, judging by their last election). America is great because we welcomed the thrown away and dispossessed and the criminals and the outcasts and a lot of bad people who got a new start. There will always be problems, but we have problems with many things - none of which are fixed by a wall.

Way to dodge the question...

It seems that many on the left believe that foreigners living in nations where violence exists are entitled to move here and receive free housing, free food, free medical care and much more.

Yep, that’s there schtick now... everyone from a poor country deserves asylum...

and the outrage about separating parents from children is pathetic... if Sally the single mom embezzled money from her employer to make her kids life better gets caught, she is probably going to go to jail and be separated from her kids... she isn’t dangerous to society and I’m sure she loves her kids, but she made a bad decision and there are consequences... same goes for the illegals.

Just soliciting replies from conservatives then?

If you think being poor, having an abusive partner, or living in a violent country are perfectly good reasons for asylum then you don’t need to respond... if you are a lefty but realize the US can’t take in everyone who is poor (which is probably 90% of South American and Mexico) feel free to share your ideas.

No, we don't really believe that - as far as the GOP lies about "free stuff." Given the chance the vast majority can and do take care of themselves or their families without any help from taxpayers.

Since you don't set the rules we will respond. Living on a violent country is and always has been a valid reason for needing asylum. That's a reality that has existed forever. It isn't changing.

Most Hispanic immigrants I have known, until Trump trotted out the brown rapist theory voted Republican because they liked the idea of limited government and no handouts. Thanks to Donald that has changed. Good Work Don!

So what is a violent country??? The USA is very violent compared to Denmark, but Albania is more violent than the USA... where do you draw the line... I’m pretty sure that asylum is not guaranteed to everyone from a country more violent than the USA.

So you don't want to have an actual discussion? Gotcha.

This is just a thread for the sake of trolling "libs".
