YouTube - Joanna Newsom "sadie" live

I always think of my kittie cat Carmelita Jones-Maltzberger when I hear this song. She's been dead a few years now.

I found the hard mass on her underside one evening when she came to lay on my lap and couldn't quite make the jump up onto the couch. I could tell she wasn't feeling good, but she'd been so quiet and polite about it that it took a while for me to notice.

I'm sorry I didn't have a way to save you. I coudn't afford the outrageous fee the vet wanted for removing the tumor next to your stomach. I had to let you go and now I miss you so much, especially in the evenings. My lap feels very empty, and though I like silence I miss that purr you used to produce when you were laying next to me.

Everything changes, everything passes away -- we all do. You came into my life at the perfect moment and you saw me through a difficult time, Carm, and I miss you.

Christmas Shoes - makes be bawl like a baby every time. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, it's a song about a boy buying a new pair of shoes for his mother before she dies. He doesn't have enough money, so a kind stranger makes up the difference at the store. The lyric that goes something like "I want her to look beautiful if mamma meets Jesus tonight" makes me lose it every time. They also made a movie about it. I remember the first time I ever heard it on the radio a few years back. I was driving at the time, and I almost got into an accident because I teared up so much that I couldn't see! I had to pull over to the side of the road to regain my composure.

You can hear the song by clicking on this link (have a tissue handy):

Damn...here I am crying again! It's such a beautiful song. I think someone would have to have a heart of stone to not be touched by it.

There must be something wrong with me. Some songs make me sad or wistful, but I can't think of a single song which makes me cry. :worried:

Caroline Say's II & Perfect Day - Lou Reed
Mama Cass - Dream a little dream
Louie Armstrong - What a wonderful world
The album "Berlin'' in which Caroline say's comes from is simply a masterpiece in a love affair gone wrong with a very sad ending. The last song called Sad Song is very positive and gives you a feeling of hope and gives a bright ending to a very dark story. Lee, if you haven't heard the whole album get it and listen.
