No buddy it wasn't verbal it was physical "allegedley"

Yes, buddy, assault is verbal. If it was physical, he would have been charged with battery. I haven't heard anything about this but I do know the difference between assault and battery, possibly he was charged with assault AND battery if it was physical like you say

I just saw it on the news. It was verbal assault.

You can't yell at people in London?

That's Bullshit.

Dude I am just going off what the media are reporting here and at the moment the only charge is assault.

Here in the UK if your attack someone it is classed as "assault"

Depending on the level of assault it falls inot 3 categories.

Assault
Bodily harm
Grevious Bodily harm.

Actually - lucky8 is right - "assault" (which is what the police say he was interviewed in connection with and released without charge) is a crime relating to verbal abuse in such a manner as to cause the victim to feel threatened with actual violence. For example *waves crowbar* "Sit the fuck down or I'll make you" - that could class as assult. Actually hitting the person with the crowbar would be then assualt and battery.

It is not, mem, just yelling at someone.

But I do note he was released without charge and has left / is leaving the country.

There is no offence of "Battery" in the UK. It's "Assault", which means physical contact. You can verbally "Abuse" someone here (racially, mostly). But assault does mean you have at the very least touched them, usually with injurous results, though pushing someone out of the way can count (especially if they're a police officer or someone else in authority).
