What was your dorm shower like?

50's built. each floor wing held about 20 guys. each wing had a tiled bath area. the door usually was propped open all the time and guys would go to the shower from their room without or with a towel if they wanted too. a tile wall divided it in two. One side had 3 toilet stalls (only the one closet to the room door had its own door, the other two were open), two urinals, two windows which stayed open 24/7 year round, and 3 sinks. On the other side of the divider wall through a 5 foot opening was a small drying area maybe 5x7 with a concrete bench for towels andss 5 foot wide opening to the showers in the rest of that side. It was just an open area with 3 shower heads. No curtains, no dividers, no doors. that is the way it was.

Oh, ever so often some guy would take a door off a dorm room and lay it across the entrance to the showers and pack it with towels. then they would put plastic bags and towels on the drain and turn of all the heads full blast. You could get it about two feet deep before it started to leak and floor the floor below or break and floor the hall. At that point every one would disappear and plead ignorance. oh, the joys of dorm life.

Hmmm, had I known about the all male gang showers maybe I would have tried for a year in the US. Mine here in Australia was mixed male and female, with two rooms of toilets (with a urinal that no one used) and two rooms of showers per floor. The showers were very private with a lockable door and changing area. The most excitement I remember was when one of the girls left a used tampon on the dividing wall between the showers. No nudity, disappointingly.

So, freshman year, 20 guys on the floor. 1 bathroom area, 1 sink (but all the rooms had sinks in this particular dorm), as I recall 3 stalls (no urinals as this floor was sometimes all girls, sometimes all guys). I think 2 completely separate shower areas? Or maybe three. Privacy, in any event.

Sophmore & junior year, both in same dorm, approx 30 guys on floor. Bathroom had I think 5 stalls, 4 sinks, 2 of those urinals that go from floor to about 4' off the floor. Showers, well there was a little sort of "drying off area" and then you passed through that to a room with about 5 showers heads on one side no curtains, and 5 on the other side each surrounded by their own curtain. Most (including me) chose to use those. Was surprised to come in one time and find our RA, a sexy 6'5" Eastern European, showering on the "no curtains" side. He had a great cock! And was 100% straight so nothing happened.

As a previous poster noted, if water pooled on the floor it was like a mirror, so on one particular occasion it was clear the guy in the curtain enclosed area next to me was, uh, enjoying himself shall we say, since the curtains stopped about a foot above the floor.

Senior year I lived in essentially a university owned 10 bedroom 5 bath house (not nearly as opulent as that makes it sound, hah!, there were no rooms other than those except a crap-ass kitchen), so the showers there were like the showers in any home.

My college dorms had all private stalls, and I don't remember a thing about them. Certainly no nudity... or maybe I'm repressing the memories of an unpleasant place...

But I'm in the military (Cdn) and we often have to shower in big communal rooms, no privacy whatsoever. You see all manner of cock... big and small, thick and thin... and a few certainly stand out in my mind (a few whoppers over the years).

Having gone to college many years ago, I still remember the dorm shower room! It had six stalls (with doors), six urinals, and six sinks. Now the SHOWER room had 10 shower heads four along each side and on each side. Plenty of room between the shower heads so there was no accidental touching. We had fairly small dorms with nine rooms per floor. All rooms except one were doubles. One was a single. So there were seventeen guys on each floor. Each floor had a common bath area . There were three sinks, three toilets with stalls, and one urinal in a corner with no door. There were four tiled shower stalls with no curtains or drying area. Particularly in the mornings before breakfast and classes, there would be naked guys taking showers, waiting for showers, and drying off. Everyone walked to the showers either in a towel or naked.

Ours were separate stalls with shower-curtains. Except for one stall, which bizarrely, had a bathtub, and had another stall behind it that you could only get to by going through the first one. freshman and sophmore and senior and 5th year lived on a floor with about 40 guys sharing a bathroom all male dorm. so 40 guys shared a tiled gang shower w the showerheads on the wall 3 heads to share. if your shower was full u could go to another floor or to the west side or the east. the entire building was all guys so u could go anywhere. sometimes when the hot water went out i would have to go to different dorm for a shower. they hung curtains and divided the the showers into stalls since i left. i was in college 96-2001.

I only lived in dorms my freshman and sophomore year and both times had a private bathroom. My freshman dorm did have a communal bathroom for rooms without private baths but the showers were individual stalls with curtains.

This was LONG ago, mid-60s, before American males became prudes. It was an old dorm with one shower room per each of four floors -- each shared by maybe 75 guys on that floor. Maybe six or eight shower heads in the room. Not terribly good lighting. Sometimes, if the room on our floor was too crowded, we'd go down or up to see if that floor's room was not being used as much. I was terrified that other guys would think I was checking them out, but I did hate my poor eyesight with my glasses off. As I recall each dorm floor had about 4 or 5 deep shower stalls. They were at one end of the john but had no doors or partitions. They were big enough to dress and undress inside them but you were within full view of guys walking past to an adjacent shower stall.

The big intramural phys ed building at the same university had a big men's communal shower room with a number of those central pedestals each of which had about 4 shower heads coming off of it so everyone saw as much of each other as they liked.

I graduated in 1999, so this is what we had in the late 1990s:

- freshman/sophmore year: halls with ~20 guys, central bathroom with row of sinks and four separate showers, each with its own curtains (two--there was a small space outside the shower proper for changing/drying off

- junionr/senior year: halls with ~30 guys, central bathroom with row of sinks and row of 4-6 showers, each with a curtain; there was a common drain for all of the showers

This was in dormatories built in the 1960s (freshman/soph.) and 1920s/1930s (jr/sr).

Actually, in the fraternity house.....one, big open tiled room with 6 shower heads.

One dorm I lived in had the open room with shower heads against the wall, then another one actually had stalls, but was still open for the most part. There was an open room with sinks on one end and urinals on the other. There were toilets with dividers, but some stalls had no doors. The showers never bothered me as much as the poor condition of the rest of the dorm and the constant trouble with the antiquated HVAC system. The water was always hot and had good pressure. The only concern I had was the cleanliness of the shower floor, so I always wore flip flop shoes into the shower. This description is from about 2005, but the dorm was built in the 1940s, I would guess.
