... before there was the internet?

An under-the-counter magazine in bookstores, or a special publication in adult bookstores?
A secret club in a private, secluded mansion?
A cryptic ad at the community pinboard?
A midnight TV commercial?
A loose network of small groups, spread all over the US?

And most important, what have you done with your spare time before there was LPSG and the net?

Clubbed random objects, and light fires.

But mostly clubbed random objects.

...Isn't that what large penises were designed for? ;)

Good point, Claire. I guess before LPSG and without the internet I watched way too much stupid TV!

I suppose you're right, this site would shock a lot of people. Pity really, because I think they'd be missing out.:biggrin1:

I think it would have been some sort of secret self-help group, spread in little clubs across the world, promoting experimentation and broad thinking.

Very hush hush though.

With my spare time before the net I just played PC games, and still do. If computers didn't exist, I'd have probably died of bordom by now. :p

If there were no internet, LPSG would be an ancient mystical but
secret society like the Skulls, whose members (no pun intended)
would control society from the highest reaches of power. The reason
being, is that we would have all this time that would normally be spent
in front of computers gazing at each other, that we could take over the
world through a series of diabolical plots and global coups.

And then we would meet for tea, and the occasional orgy. :biggrin1:

I asked this because of two things:

  1. I've cleared out some rubbish two days ago, and in one box found my first 33.6-kBaud modem. This made me think of what I had done before the internet, and reached the conclusion that it wasn't as much an enrichment for my life as I had thought. I mean, I had existed without it, right?
  2. I found out that Google somehow stores USENET and other group contributions back to 1993, /92, /91. That made me think of LPSG in this context.
It is amazing, how sometimes technical progress worms its way into our lives that the question of what we had done before doesn't even come to our mind, but if it does, we find out that the difference is less than we had thought.

Somehow feeling philosophical today.

Before the Internet LPSG would not have existed. Simply because it means such different things to different people. To some it is a club, a hangout with friends. To others it is a place to visit occasionally and get a bit of feedback on ideas or their lives, others need a bit of unbiased guidance in a relationship or the likes and for others still, it is a porn store to get their rocks off.

I guess before the Internet each forum would equate to a club. The meet and greet would have joined their towns welcome wagon. The sex with a large penis would have joined the swingers clubs and visited the dungeons wearing leather harnesses, the relationship forum would have been a self help group in the basement of the community hall etc...

Boy, this one takes me back. In college, there was another guy and I who fucked the same girl (basically, the class slut) and found out through her that we were both in her top tier from a size standpoint. He approached me about finding other guys who were well hung in order to compare notes. We only found one other guy, but we'd actually sit and talk about our "issues" and share info about which girls were open to sex with a bigger man. We all shared two or three girls that way until one of them figured it out and screwed things for us.

As to what I would be doing without this and other internet outlets, probably not be able to stand where i'm forced to be right now.

This reminded me of your question. Lots of controversy about this change. I wonder what Queen Kristina would have thought about LPSG.org.

Probably she'd have put an ad here, looking for a new [male] chambermaid. It's funny, I am thinking about how much of the issues discussed here would be discussed face to face. I mean, typing these things is one thing, but if you met others face to face, would you be just as open? Even if the meeting was AA style, forenames only?

AA style is a good thing, by the way. Probably every LPSG member should have a sponsor for being admitted in.
