"Faggot" or "Fag".
Do you use this word? If so, what does it mean to you?
If not, why not?
I do not, but I have a masculine gay friend who does. Supposedly he reserves it for the very flamboyant types.

Both are dangerous to use no matter the context, however, I have found myself using them to describe an overly flamboyant gay man from time to time. Usually, and I'm a little ashamed of myself for saying it, it's when the flame level is so high it feels like they're TRYING to be that gay.

I don't endorse the use of the words, but I have unfortunately used them.

I don't say it, but then again, I don't say any taboo or "bad" words.

I even have calculated uses of the word f**k. I do this so that in the event I ever do use them, it is extremely noticeable due to its rarity and therefore carries much more weight and true meaning.

Many people seem to throw cursing around in normal speech and I find it loses value that way. My friends find it both odd that I am so aware of my usage, but also say that they know when I use those words, it really means something. I say f**k about once a year.

I just don't see any need to say faggot. It still doesn't generally have a good use. It's either an insult or an unsuccessfully taken-back term. I say retire that word. I have the same policy on nigger/nigga.

Since you identify as 100% straight, I congratulate you on not using that word. Not only because it's the gentlemanly thing to do, but because I know more and more gay people who are absolutely fine shaming and/or physically intimidating people who use that word publicly.

I do use those words on occasion, but only ever in jest, and only ever with people who I know would take it in jest.

It's a dangerous word, after all, and people who use it should do so at their own risk.

As George Carlin once paraphrased "There are no such things as bad words".
Southpark even did an Episode on it.

The words basically just mean your a pariah or the pole at which a pariah was burned at.

It is the intent of whatever word or gesture is used. Seriously...if you think Fag or faggot is bad... then Queer, Queen, Bitch, etc... are all in there. With any "alleged" bad word it's the usage.... making these taboo only reinforces the intolerance.

When I was called "cocksucker", I said "yes I am, so is this request you want cause you no my name.

I call my good gay friends "girl" or "hoe" or "douche" but never really use fag as a term of endearment. Living in LA, I actually end up using "Joto" a lot...which is the Mexican version of fag...but fag just comes out sounding ugly. I think when I am irritated I might say "knock it off, faggot!" We sometimes say "stupid" as a compliment, and "dumb bitch" means something you said was really funny. If a good straight friend called me a fag, I would probably laugh it off...it's a point of pride that I am no longer afraid to be considered gay.

Being called faggot doesn't bother me at all. I often refer to myself that way and the Doms that I serve call me faggot.
When I was young and in training I was taught that faggot can mean either a queen or a submissive and that it is used to insult or control, depending on the context. Being a committed lifelong submissive I've embraced it as part of my identity.
Being very masculine I rarely ever hear it as an insult unless it's directed at someone else. When I do hear it directed at me it comes from men that I've chosen to serve and it's understood in a larger context.

What's in a word?

"Faggot" or "Fag"

always found it offensive & derogatory, and often used purposefully by gays or strs? to be harmful
especially when spitted out with a contorted evil expression

anyone using it in my presence referring to others or me incur my verbal wrath

have not found a similar equivalent to retort, but doing so would possibly feed the prick'

Words are important because they have a gut link to emotions. Like the n word, the f word is widely considered to be an insult. And those who regularly insult others or use bad language have fewer friends, contacts, and opportunities.
