Sorry, but the average in many countries of Europe is much higher than in the US.
In Belgium f.e. average height is 181cm (5'11&1/4") and just over the border (Holland) I'm of +/- average height.
Men born in 1996 surpass average heights of 181 cm in the Netherlands, Belgium, Estonia, Latvia and Denmark, with Dutch men, at 182.5 cm (180.6–184.5), the tallest people on the planet.

And I hate to burst your little bubble, UT you can likely find that the average in Europe is 5'10" just like in USA, simply because in many of the countries the average height is just 5'8". Go on. look it up.
