There are those that wear them for vanity, and often like a lot of really large rings. Having the longer nails with enough real estate to paint pictures on is not something every woman would like. But I've seen some that were really unique.
I know many women who have acrylics or nail wraps because they just tend to have paper thin nails and might not even be able to get the nail past the tip. These women are not looking for the daggers, just a way to have a more attractive nail because they feel very self conscious about their own. I've have a friend years and her nails literally peel the top layer. They just can't get any length. It may be genetic or lack of some vitamins . Long as I've known here, she's had problems with her nails.
I can't wear nails that are much past my finger because I have to wear gloves all the time.
( when actually working with a patient) Same goes for rings. As a midwife , my hands are also in some delicate areas and gloves are not enough to protect the patient from pokey nails or rings. When working all I can wear is my smooth wedding band, and that gets covered with powder from the gloves.
Most women do include nails in their grooming. Especially if they like jewelry such as bracelets, watches and rings. But not all women can grow much of a nail. I do use a gell coating that I set with an light. Tends to last a good 2 weeks. I usually put a pale pink or peach polish on the nails, between the gell. Time consuming, but it works for me.
Hand washing is my biggest problem and the hardest on nails.
Then there are toe nails. I have seen some women with some long -assed toe nails. Nails you wouldn't want poking a tender, or valuable area! One woman had toe nails so long that I would imagine she had to size up her sandles because those nails didn't extend past the shoe. Pretty color, and she managed to get studs in the big toenail.
It was hard not to look at them. But I guess that's the point.
I do general toenail care and I do use polish on my toenails in summer. It was only about 6 years ago that my hubby told me how much he like my toe nails polished. Only took him 20 years to say so.
Women's grooming can be a complex. Whenever delivering in hospital or birthing center; it's always interesting to see the differences in what different women pack in their personal bag. Anywhere from just a lipgloss, to bag of make-up ,favorite stuffed animal. Make up bag with some make up, and photo albums. Oh, makeup, pjs and camera.( daddy forgets things) I've seen many dad sent home for things "she" had to have. And no make up, but multiple curling irons, dryers and stylers. Of course, you have the g'mums on both sides who are sure daughter or DIL needs ( bags full of stuff) However, where to put it all?
Me, I had
packed my pillow , ex blanket, lipstick and mascara. My daughter was too quick for all of us though.
Off topic here: as I click around the telly again, it seems we have too many channels ( cable at least) and all kinds of silly reality shows. Nothing surprises me anymore. How long until a show about 'what people pack'.
