Hi,

I find this topic to be particularly amusing. I was in New Orleans of all places and happened upon a couple on the Rue Royale.The husband was wearing a uni kilt and she said that he was her secret weapon at Mardi Gras time . Just give him a few stiff drinks and he is good to go. She gets all the beads she wants. She just flips his kilt and the beads come raining down. LOL! My intern from Edinburgh told me that you could get a real eye full at weddings after folks had a bit too much to drink. This was after we asked him the age old question about the kilts. LOL!


By the way, as a member of the Mc Donald clan, I find that comment absolutely delightful!

I love this thread .Somebody please add comments to it! All of you Bravehearts and Rob Roy McGregor wannabees comment! I know there are plenty of you out there with more than a touch the Celtic blood running through your veins! Actually, the kilt was an addition to the Scottish lore which came into being relatively late. So much of what we Yanks think is Scottish is actually within the category of "Brigadoonery" as I have heard it described. The real life new world descendants of the highland scots are just as likely to be seen driving down any country road in PA, MD, WVA, VA,NC,GA or TN in a pickup and a John Deere cap on their head. That's right ! As The Byrd's of Virginia described them, "The Damned Scots-Irish" , Ulster Scots or many other colorful nick names which we all have heard bantied about. Tell your stories....

this is a great wee (small) topic, i am myself scottish and go to every Scotland fitbaw (soccer) match, even though we are shite (shit), and trust me anybody who wears anything under their kilt and is found out will usually have their underwear forcibly removed by some fellow members of the tartan army in a bit of a jokey way of course, although i will say that on the 19th of november 1999 (the last time we played England and beat them 1-0 the people in the bar i was in which was in england certainly found out what a scotsman got under his kilt
