I do 700 to 800 weighted crunches on a machine and then follow that with leg lifts, then another series of ab machines some twisting and one a Roman chair. Last step is doing just basic crunches on the floor I do about a hundred of these. I do 50 leg lifts, and 50 each side on the twisting unit, and I do 50 on the Roman chair with weights. I always follow this series of workouts with some form back back exercises. I feel like you need to balance your back with your abs.

You have an amazing core, Bro. All that work is paying off. Thanks for sharing that.

I don't do any ab exercises anymore. I think crunches and such can put too much strain on my lumbar region, where I have a couple bad discs. Since the core's job is to stabilize the body, I get my core work from using it to stabilize my body when doing squats, deadlifts, presses, pull-ups, turkish get-ups, etc.

how do Farmer Walks help core?

I quote from TNation:

"The core muscles are hit hard during a heavy farmer's walk, and the back and abdomen must work in sync to support your torso and the additional weight. Keeping your abs tight during the exercise is necessary to protect the lower back and prevent any shear stress or vertebral buckling"

The exercises that strengthen the core, are the exercises that use it the most. The core is used and will get stronger if you do squats and deadlifts, why? Because you're using them to keep your spine neutral and torso rigid; the longer you can hold that rigid torso and neutral spine under heavier loads- then you're core is getting stronger.

For the farmer's walks, you are engaging your core while holding onto heavy weights in order to keep your torso braced...on top of that you're walking too!

Well my Abs/core is one of my best ''bodyparts''.
Its genetics, but also you have to know how to train.

So no pussy sit ups blablabla, or shitty ab training (like a lot people do). Variation! Sometimes weighted sit ups on bench, on floor, on cable....sometimes with own bodyweight....and/or supersets with 3 abs exersize. Usually I do abs twice a week and then 3 to max. 5 AB-exersizes.
I never neglected ABS, I do it since 2008....

tip: don't do weighted side bends....otherwise the obliques will grow too much :p.
