The one time I had a urologist it was a man. I don't have a preference, I'll go with whomever the G.P. recommends.

What's your opinion on urologist being your opposite gender. Are you more inclined to choose your own gender or are you ok with choosing your opposite.

Gender doesn’t bother me and is, frankly, irrelevant. So long as they’re a credentialed doctor and someone with whom I can develop a good rapport, then that’s all I’m concerned about.

Go with whatever you are comfortable with. It is your body. If you are being referred by your GP, state which gender you prefer if that matters to you.

My comfort levels are very relevant, especially if it involves a personal examination on that level.

It wouldn't matter to me the gender of the urologist as long as they were good at their medical field. I do find that women specialists act more nervous with male patients especially if it involves them being nude. Whenever I've had a male specialist or physician they are relaxed and professional.

Also for those of you who chose your for your urologist to be your opposite gender , did you choose that on purpose. If yes, why are you opposed with your urologist being the same gender as you.

These answers are very surprising, since when ladies choose their obgyn , they always choose their own gender, so are men more comfortable with lady urologists seeing them naked. Also does that open doors for sexual harassment.

Also, do you think a mans sexual orientation plays a role in choosing the gender of his urologist. For example, does a straight man get inclined to choose a lady urologist in fear of any homoerotic behaviour happening or because of hidden attraction to his own gender that he doesn't want to acknowledge.

Intuition is the experience we are all given. If it's not used it's lost. If you have none, then I suppose it's why you need to ask here. That's my opinion.

I always like to have my doctors be of the same gender; men. Both my general physician and my urologist are men and I feel most comfortable with them since they have to check me out down there when I go in for a visit

I prefer an opposite gender Dr. Professionalism and everything aside I just remember the discomfort from having a middle aged man cup my testicles while I coughed. Id rather the only hands beyond my own touching my naughty bits, be a woman's hands.

It would only make a difference to me if I were getting a massage. I've never gotten a massage, but if I did, it would not be from a man.

So the thousands and thousands of Male OBGYN Doctors, should not have any patients . Since women pick their own gender

As a physician, I’ve thought a lot about my personal choices and those I recommend for patients. I don’t consider gender or sexual preference relevant. Nor golfing habit, skin color, Christmas gifts or favorite car. The only things I care about personally are skill and caring. And I refer patients to the colleagues with whom I would trust the care of my family members. Simple as that.

I honestly find it appalling that you wouldn't discriminate based on golf habits.
