I mean when did you start enjoying the flavors of alcoholic drinks. When I was younger I used to drink just to get drunk. I used to drink more than I do now. I never had a drinking problem, but getting drunk was the point of drinking. Now I rarely drink, but when I do, I only drink to enjoy the flavor and the rich bouquet.

I learned when not to drink, and that is with my Scottish or Russian friends. Only do that if you wish to be in pain for a very long time.

When I was younger the legal drinking age in Hawaii was 18... so I learned how to drink responsibly. I took it to the next level when I was going to UCLA and subsequently I have learned to know my limits and when to stop and switch to club soda with a lime.

Maybe I wasn`t clear enough. I was thinking more about the time you have learned to enjoy the flavors.

Dont think i have been able to learn how to drink
Fortunately started at a later age, 25 odd
Always been a moderate drinker, with very occasional binges so think that has suited me fine, as its never been a problem.
Binges only happened when i experimented with all the different types of alcohol

Well, In my opinion, if you're not drinking for the effect, then why not have a coke or something.

Yes, some liquors taste better than others, as do some beers, wines, and cocktails.

I don't exclusively drink to get sloshed, but yeah, any time I'm drinking something alcoholic, even if it's a beer or a glass of wine, I am conscious of it's effect.

And, if I'm drinking hard stuff, yeah. It is to get slobberknockered. However, I know my limits. Puking all over the ground, or in a garbage can is not cool.

There is a flavor? I better put the beer bong away next time.

I haven't puked in years which raises another issue, discuss at a later date. I will have to see if I can say slobberknockered when I'm slobberknockered.

When my brother and I were kids, our mother would make sundaes with creme de menthe for us. In high school, my father and step-mother introduced me to Bailey's. Because there was such a prevalence of crappy beer, I never got into that until I was in my 20's when micro-brews became more readily available. Then I discovered Irish whiskey and tequila, the latter becoming my favourite. I've always drank for the flavours; getting drunk is just a side effect.

I could never be an alcoholic, it requires way too much commitment.

It's customary in my country to put a little breast milk in a baby's whisky bottle. Apparently I was such a natural it took me over a year to sober up enough to stand on my own two feet.

I was about 30 before I liked the taste of most booze. By then I'd been drinking steadily for a long time mainly because I liked the effect. Eventualy it got bad and I had to stop completely.

I was given beer and wine as a child and harder stuff before my teens it all seemed awful until after the first sip.
