It's always the people who can't spell GRAMMAR who correct others about their grammar. One thing I've learned about LPSG is that there are many people from all cultural and language backgrounds than can make them seem out of the loop with your standards. But I understood what he had to say perfectly. Probably because rather than being bothered by grammatical errors, I was able to read the overall message of what he was saying.
Correcting someones grammar is usually the thing that bored, unintelligent and otherwise not very creative people do when they don't like what someone has to say and they have no other way to tell them.
I think it was rude and unnecessary for you to say that to him.
Damn! OF COURSE, I mispell "grammar" on the one post I make about it!
MR...You misread me. I got his overall message, as well. I just think that it always important to be as clear as you can be when writing. I didn't nit-pick his post and certainly didn't intend to insult him in any way. I was NOT being sarcastic or overly judgemental. And I never meant to be rude or imply that he failed to live up to my standards. If I found it difficult to read through his post, I am sure others did, as well. I never got the impression that he was unable to write clearly...I did feel, however, that he was a little lazy in structuring his post. It just occurred to me that his inattention to his writing might, in fact, be what caused his compliment to be misinterpreted.
I don't have a history of correcting errant punctuation or grammar and I am sorry that you have read me as a "bored, unintelligent and otherwise not very creative" person.
And, to Sgt. Rock: I sincerely apologize if what I said came off as rude or insulting.
