When people refer to transgenders as "transgenders"

Is that impolite? Should another noun be used when referring to a group of transgender people? Thanks in advance.

it'd be rude to refer to a gay person as A Gay, or gay people as Gays, as with gay, transgender isn't a noun, it's an adjective. So you'd say, a transgender Person, not a transgender, or transgender people, not transgenders. it's fine that you didn't know that, but now you do <3

I think its really subjective. I know there are girls okay with the term 'trans', but if a dude calls me that, its an instant block. I dont mind trans....transgender is so technical, but im okay with it too, but it really comes down to the individual and what makes them comfortable.
