For me it was within 3 months, but I am going today to lose money (because that's what usually happens)

I hate gambling, and never gambled it`s just throwing your money in the thrash.

I'm not a big fan of it, either, but its not "throwing your money in the trash" any more than is buying tickets for a concert or NBA game, or a cruise. It's a form of entertainment, like the other activities mentioned, and like many forms of entertainment, there's a cost attached.

When you stop thinking that gambling is a form of entertainment, you're on dangerous ground.

I disagee that an NBA game or cruise is throwing away money. (what are you losing?)

People throw money away on many different things.

I like casinos, in fact they call it gaming  now, instead of gambling.

If you are against gambling, then it is not a form of entertainment, it is throwing money away.

If you do gamble and stop thinking that it's entertainment, then you are on dangerous ground.

Money - I would have thought that was obvious? I've never been on a free cruise or gone to a free basketball game. If you spend money on something that doesn't entertain you, you are throwing money away.

If you are against gambling, then it is not a form of entertainment, it is throwing money away.

Obviously. However, people who are against gambling probably don't gamble, so the point is moot. Much the same as my buying a ticket to, say, a soccer game, would be throwing money away (I can't abide soccer).

I visit Lost Wages (Las Vegas) several times a year and I don't gamble. I am so bad at it. But every now and again, I'll sit and play blackjack and see how long I can keep my money going. For me, it's entertainment.

I know people, however, who make a living by gambling. Go figure.

Okay, children I thought we all knew what gambling meant but I can see we do not.

Gambling is defined as: The voluntary risking of a sum of money on the outcome of a game or other event. Or as the act of playing for stakes in the hope of winning (including the payment of a price for a chance to win a prize); "his gambling cost him a fortune"; "there was heavy play at the blackjack table"

Is it still gambling if you're playing with house money?
Yes, it is.

I disagee that an NBA game or cruise is throwing away money. (what are you losing?) Both those things fall into the category of recreation a cruise can further be subdivided into the category of relaxation or holiday/vacation. An NBA game is a sporting event . . until you place a bet on the out come. then it becomes gambling; but only for the bookie, person placing the bet, not everyone watching the game.
People throw money away on many different things. This is very true! Most LPSG members would probably be bored shitless by my collection of art books and art history books.

I like casinos, in fact they call it gaming  now, instead of gambling. They can call it skipping if they want gaming is gambling.

If you are against gambling, then it is not a form of entertainment, it is throwing money away. I'm not against gambling, I just find it boring.

If you do gamble and stop thinking that it's entertainment, then you are on dangerous ground. Maybe I don't find it entertaining because I don't win enough.

There wasn't a category for me, I've never gambled but I'm not particularly against it, I used to go to casinos a lot with my ex husband, he went for the gambling I went for the free food :)

I am the caustious gambler. I usually stick to certain games I am good at and I come home up. I don't "let it ride". Most people forget, casinos are in this to make money, not give it away and the odds are always in favor of the house.

I hadn't though about it, but I guess I gambled a little under 3 years ago, which is suprising because I live right down the road from a casino.

I see where rob_just_rob is coming from, it's a matter of perception. If you go into a casino thinking of it like you would any other form of entertainment, like a cruise or a sporting event, then it isn't trhowing money away, it's paying the casino for the entertainment of gambling.

Casinos are like strip clubs. Before I ever went to either of them I had the impression that I wouldn't like them. I've been to each exactly once, and my suspicions were confirmed both times. They're both overly smoky and dark places full of drunk lowlifes throwing away their money in the hopes that they will get something that they're extremely unlikely to attain. I'll keep my money, thanks.
