When you live with roomates, which do you prefer to live with ? Men, or women ?

I find men easier to deal with, and the loo seat can be up the whole time.

I haven't live with other men before, so I can't say for sure what I'd really prefer, but living with women would seem more logical for me.

I prefer a male friend, because we deal with the same issues like morning wood, jerking off, having porn and so on and on. Also, when it's a friend, I know what i can expect from him.

If I live together witha girl, it would be my gf, someone who takes me for who I am.

I'm in a point in my life where I don't have to worry about having a roommate and I'm very thankful for that. Also, ss I've gotten older, I'm sure I'd be a lousy roommate.

With that said, since I live at the beach, I have plenty of house guests - both male and female. I've also been married, had a couple of long-term girlfriends and have two teenage sons who live with me part of the year.

All in all, I think I would do better with a male roommate. Guys are just easier to get along with and it's easier to settle disagreements with them. BUT... women in the house make things so much nicer - the place looks better, smells better and the perqs can be pretty sweet too.

I think it depends how compatible they are with you.
My best years were when I shared a house in the Netherlands with a swedish friend, he was my friend and we became really close friends who shared many things.

Specially our house cleaning compulsion :)

With women, I think we need to be more tactful and different, something i don't like doing at home, but I have also spent time living with my best friend, a female and we could make it work and was nice (specially sexy times when both were single)

Conclussion: I prefer a male house mate, but if the woman is right for your living ways, it can also work well.

Guys definately, I never had a female roomate, but one of my college roomates had a sister who spent the summer at our apartment while she was in summerschool and her f-ing long hair was everywhere. My roomate even bitched about having to clean his sister's hair outta the drain in the shower.

Another time while in college I lived in a town house with three other guys and one of my roomates had a gf who basicly lived there even though she had her own place. This actually worked out pretty well because this guy was a total slob who would never clean up after himself in the kitchen. She also loved to cook and usually fixed dinner for al lof us which was great. Unfortunately she finally wised up and realized he was a slob and dumped him for a guy who had much more class.

Just wondering what the replies will favor in, or if people don't care about the gender.
Oh, and also, if you prefer them to be straight, gay, or it doesn't matter, and why? I haven't live with other men before, so I can't say for sure what I'd really prefer, but living with women would seem more logical for me.
Never lived with a man before. Most of the straight men I know are pigs so thats a 'big ol' NO.' I have lived with neat and sloppy, older and younger females and quite frankly they all annoyed the crap outta me at some point. :irked: If I ever had to have a roommate again I would choose a gay man, just because I tend to get along great with gay men.

probably guys, girls can get complicated as roommates
Complicated? Ohhh you mean you thought it was understood you were fuck buddys; but you never told her.

:261: Oh yes you would! What makes you think a stranger would tolerate your nasty ass ways?

I've had both male and female roommates, and I have had problems living with both men and women. I feel pretty indifferent about the issue. Just like both men and women can live up to being total and complete slobs, inconsiderate of fellow housemates, and raising our collective blood pressure when rent or bills are done, both men and women can be equally cleanly, responsible for taking care of one's messes, and pay the rent and bills on time.

Until she spoiled it by letting her boyfriend practically live with us rent-free for four months before I moved out (and our friendship pretty much died afterward), my best roommate was my ex-girlfriend from high school. I knew she constantly worried about money and always felt short each month, but her parents chipped in and helped her out. We took turns cooking and cleaning, and we both had our own bedroom and bathrooms to junk up while keeping the common areas clean.

Incidentally, my worst roommate was a bit serendipitious. After my ex- and I fell out, I agreed to room with a co-worker. That would've been fun, but a mutual friend of ours barged in and brought his Siberian Husky puppy along with him. Between working several jobs, being very cranky about an upset sleep schedule (no thanks to the dog), and again doing the beg-and-plead, I broke the lease and moved out. (Incidentally, the apartment manager was a bit forgiving because I clued her in about the dog, so she let me slip out.) Needless to say, I didn't talk to those two anymore.

I don't have a roommate now, and I'm not sure if I would be in the market for one. If I were, I would need a pretty high level of confidence in knowing that they can live like an adult -- work, share the expenses, clean, split up responsibilities. I think I'm pretty easygoing to live with, but I can turn highly cranky when I feel assed-out regarding keeping up one's half of the house.

Maybe it's a matter of home training...

I guess I would try to live with a guy, but I don't know. Guys are weird, and they always think I have crushes on them or some crap like that.

I can live with anyone who will not eat up all of the food...not trash the place...be considerate when it is sleep time...pay and do their share.

Guys definately. Only if they are clean! grew up nudist raised by my dad and still hate clothes at home. divorced now and had a nudist roommate also straight and a guy and it worked out well. he was clean as well and no issues being naked and hard at times since we both understood it. girls would never allow that and think that clothes are the best thing ever.

You know I get along with straight women more then anyone, so I 'll have to say straight women. As long as they don't mind hearing me have sex with a guy, then were all good.

I wouldn't mind being your roommate 10% of the time. YUM. You just keep getting hotter and HOTTER!

Women are always better to live with, less problems usually and cleaner hopefully. And they smell better.

I had two older sisters, have been married twice, single now and love living alone in my own home though to be perfectly honest my GF who is my next door neighbor stays with me every night and helps me out around the house as if we lived together but if I were to have a roomie it would be a man for many of the above mentioned reasons.
